[CNN] Preparing for a race war

The headline is classic click bait. So yes there's always been a group of Afrikaners who are preparing for the 'end days', but it is such a small percentage of the population, it's not really worth investigating or writing a long story about.

The headline makes it sound like there is a substantial minority of the country preparing for a race war. Not even close.

So... it's not fake, you just don't like it...?

Eventually this will be a self-fulfilling prophecy. Americans (white nationalists) want a race war in the US before they're outnumbered.

I caught part of the segment on telly last night, out of the corner of my eye as I was preparing supper.

The only thing I could think at the time was: "Jesus, that Roche family resembles CroMagnon man far more than Homo Sapiens"

Otherwise - yes, click-baity, eyeball-baity frothy nonsense.

I think the Afrikaans preppers are more numerous than you think. Even in my little dorp there is a group with a cache in them thar hills. And there is a lot of alarmist type stuff circulating on Whatsapp that draws people in. And they are persuasive (if they leave out the real woowoo stuff with Siener Van Rensburg). Just working on the 80/20 principle - if the extreme radicals represent the 20% of everyone involved, that leaves a lot of people in the 80% who are quietly filling their garage with tinned goods and buckets of rice.

I've come across the suidlanders before. Seems like a nice group of people. There's some real value in prepping, if not for a race war at least they'll be fine when eskom finally kicks the bucket. I don't like their plans of basically bugging out to Namibia or Botswana.

And the idea that some western powers will rush in and save us is completely delusional. Joining up with a group that's relying on someone else to come and save them is risky.

Only if you are a delusional paranoid.
It isn't delusional or paranoid to expect we're going to have load shedding again... Our infrastructure is slowly busy failing. If you are prepared for a few hours of darkness you can start calling yourself a prepper.

There is a vast difference between having a few candles in the house and prepping.

It's the same thing. Prepping is prepping, it doesn't matter if it is for the end of the world or an extended power failure.

Perhaps, but there's a big difference between not having faith in Eskom and expecting a civil war.

Ya but that was all fine and good because Foxes spin was seen in a good light by certain forumites when really both outlets are spinning for their own agendas.

Don't worry Unhappy. Fox have now joined the #NeverTrump train. So, CNN and Fox are going to be same same (but not) soon.

The issue is not a debate on what is fake or not about it. The real issue is why does it deserve to be the main headline on CNN when you have serious problems like the situation in Yemen which other news agencies are covering today.

Belated response but anyway... CNN has varying editions and front pages tend to be curated based on your geo location. Same watching CNN here vs in the US - different content.
