Hi guys

is a coaxial cable the same as a rca cable but better quality??? can one use a rca cable instead of a coaxial one???

..pretty much, in that they're both made with a central conductor that's shielded by a wire sheath. In both cases you put the signal on the core and ground on the shield.
but better quality???
depends on what you mean by 'quality'; if you take it to mean higher specification, and thereby capable of higher frequencies, then yes.

Not so much: an application that calls for co-ax is depending on the features of said co-ax, RCA is unlikely to meet those specs ..but you should be able to use co-ax in a situation where RCA would be used if you were bloody-minded enough to try!

I agree. Wouldn't make much sense. I don't think you would get good results using a single rca for tv, for example. I don't think the bandwidth will be high enough.

Coax will work fine for rca if its only a few meters but the loss on coax is more ,so don't use for long distances.

I disagree. If anything, one can run coax much longer distances than rca

I hate Coax, gave me the worst shock of my life the other day, I was in agony for hours afterwards :(

Sounds painful. What happened?

Was unplugging it from my TV card and it slipped and some how one of my fingers found itself over the actual circular connector, completing the circuit.

DSTV really, really hurts.
