Web Africa claims this might be because of a SAIX proxy server going down or something.

could anyone please tell me if this is true OUTSIDE of my own website?

If not, could you test the following link:

If you host overseas, terminal into your server and browse from there.

All 3 work fine from here - DSL SAIX, and from diginet via IS and Verizon.

Thanks, then it could be a possible provider problem or a specific SAIX proxy in Cape Town perhaps.

Get that same error using SAIX ADSL, works fine when I go through a US server.

I've been getting the exact same error on a number of overseas sites this morning. I also get it on the three links you posted, but not when I switch my proxy to 196.25.253.13:8080

RiSA only leave it open for certain hours in a day... Only kidding, it's a SAIX proxy server that only works off ADSL accounts which have international access. So IS accounts and SAIX local-only accounts (or internationally capped TI accounts) will get "Access Forbidden"

The problem could (haven't confirmed it) be Route Sentry related, if you using it since the proxy is local so RS will try put the data through the local account which is not allowed to use it so you'll get "Access Forbidden"

I suppose there's other possibilities

EDIT: If you getting that message on an international SAIX account, then perhaps try port 80 or 3128

I'll try different ports. Our traffic to the website is done via international SAIX ADSL (we're using a WISP) the rest of the traffic goes through IS. Sucks cause IS is *** slow and i had them re-route it through SAIX ADSL.

Getting it on a few sites as well, definitely a Telkom problem because I'm going through an intl server now and its fine.

Have stopped RouteSentry and using myWebAfrica account.

I'm guessing its a problem with SAIX's transparent proxies, as soon as you bypass them its fine.

You have to have an account on an international server to do it.

How do we get that right?

I run a fairly busy photography forum that is hosted on a US server and since yesterday things have not been kosher with my site speed here, often times resulting in the error mentioned.

None of my international members have reported any problems, so I know its definitely not the server itself.

Get what right? Maybe the SAIX servers are overloaded, everyone's at home browsing? Who knows, just Telkom being incompetent again.
