Coffin assault trial

Political parties set differences aside, express outrage at coffin suspects

And that's how it should be, but on MyBB you have the resident racist troll trying to gain mileage from it in his white hate campaign.

The African National Congress (ANC)’s Desmond Moela says racism and racists are not welcome in the country.

“We’ll make sure that those who are still racist, especially white people who are still racist, we’ll drive them to the sea so that they go back to where they came from.”

Why the emphasis on white people?

What a racist POS.

And the last part indicates that he doesn't believe white people actually hold citizenship of South Africa.

‘Coffin assault accused attacked me too’

Middelburg - Just moments before two Mpumalanga men allegedly forced Victor Rethabile Mlotshwa into a coffin and threatened to burn him alive, they also allegedly attacked another man.

Dalton Sithole, who is Mlotshwa’s neighbour, alleged that Willem Oosthuizen and Theo Martins Jackson hurled profanities at him, bumped him with a bakkie, kicked him several times and threatened him with a gun.

Sithole said he had the courage to report the matter to the police only after footage of Mlotshwa’s attack emerged and the incident was published in the local newspaper.

He claimed that Oosthuizen and Jackson assaulted him because they thought he was attempting to invade their land near Middelburg.

He explained that he had been walking from his home near the Eskom power plant when Oosthuizen, who he described as a farmer on a nearby plot of land, confronted him.

“He asked me where I was going and I said I was just walking, but he insisted that I was coming to his farm,” said Sithole, who made a 40km journey to court from his home at Blinkpan.

An argument then broke out between the pair, which eventually turned violent, Sithole said.

Why the emphasis on white people?

The relentless attack on white capital, they want it surrendered to them. It is sad knowing that should this be achieved, that the elitists will take everything and poorly distribute to the poor. They are using this incident as their podium to launch attacks. Politics...

Agreed

#BetterTogether: DA condemns racist coffin attack, supports Mr Mlotshwa in Court today

The following remarks were delivered by DA Mpumalanga Chairperson, Jane Sithole MPL, today outside the Middelburg Magistrate Court to a large crowd of DA activists and supporters.

The DA came out in our numbers, in support of Victor Rethabile Mlotshwa who is the victim of an horrific racial attack.

We are also here to show support for his family during this difficult time.

There is no place in a democratic society for bigotry and racism of any form. This goes against the values and principles protected in our Constitution and against the DA’s core principles of Freedom, Fairness and Opportunity for All.

The fight against bigotry and racism requires all South Africans to unite in condemning the acts of the few people who seek to divide us.

We are better together, and must continue to work towards building a South Africa that is truly prosperous, and united.

This is an ideal that the DA will work tirelessly towards, so that we honour Nelson Mandela’s dream for a non-racist, non-sexist South Africa, that belongs to all who live in it.

South Africa belongs to all of us.

Maimane needs to realise the only reason people are voting for him is because he is not Zuma or Malema. Being more radical isn't what people want. All those people already vote EFF.

Nice to see the EFF and the ANC united by this matter. The case made headlines on BBC TV also.

Racist who are now using coffins like a WWE match, and a respected politician encouraging street justice. Whole country is completely losing it.

He did. And the official explanation was that the picture expresses "sentiment" or "feelings" and must not be taken literally....

Pretty much in line with the ANC and EFF...

@MmusiMaimane And so should mob justice! You are very disappointing for and opposition leader posting this! @afriforum @ewnupdates #shocking

Finally:

AfriForum ‏@afriforum Nov 16
@andre_j_collins we reject actions like these and demand prosecution of people responsible. We regard this as a disgusting act #coffinassult

AF showing their support, it was their generic reply to anyone adding them to their tweet.

Then you have opinions like these:

@gpreller @MmusiMaimane this is a MEME!!

It doesn't represent the actions a person wants to take. It's a metaphor

Xolani Zondo ‏@XondoZ12 Nov 16
@nicharry @MmusiMaimane but memes are just visual metaphors... Why are you taking them literally?

This reminds me that I may now express my opinion through memes without repercussion.

Noluthando Sizani ‏@Mbokodo_Sizane Nov 16
@TheDavidAlves @MmusiMaimane why didn't you complain at this post? No one saw anything wrong with this. They liked and retweeted it

Maimane immortalised.

Anyway...

Geesus, please tell me he didn't post this...
Verified it myself with that screen shot, it's unfortunately very real. If that was from the ANC or EFF people would be losing their sh*t but because it's not they aren't making such a fuss. Really irresponsible post from Maimane.
