coj off-grid process

And it seems it’s not just me. COJ system has been on and off for a few months now.

Another lady was complaining also.

They are reloading it on their system (CP). And guess who is going back to COJ for probably the 10th time now, me. On Friday.

As per usual, CP is more helpful than COJ. The last phoned COJ to clear it up
It’s takes 1 second to load onto system. Keep staring at them until it’s done.

Finally!

COJ has the quote which magically increased to 2700 rand. Don’t care at this point.

But I can only pay it on Monday😭.

I’m just glad one extra step is done.

Invoice generated by COJ. And paid them. Costed 3195 with VAT included. Now I wait and I doubt the account gets closed automatically based on what I’ve heard with prepaid users converted from postpaid. So probably a couple more visits left to do.

Closure of accounts any COJ branch would be familiar with so shouldn’t too much of a hassle.

Will update when the meter gets removed.

I assume the account won't be closed at all. My COJ bill still shows "Prepaid electricity" for R0. I guess it's a way of them tracking to show that all services to a particular property are on the invoice. But will be interested to see how it ends up reflecting on yours.

Funny how they charge you so much to remove something

Yep. And 4x that to connect again. I just wonder now how long it will take them to actually remove it. Will check every second day to see when the meter is removed.

Yup sharks that's all they are.

Not the same, but related. I wanted to convert to prepaid, as CP's network fees are ridiculous. I sent through everything last year, and they replied that they aren't doing conversions until Dec 25/Jan 26. So last week I sent through everything again, this time they replied that they stopped doing prepaid conversions.

It seems like they are addicted to the sweet-sweet ~R1400 network and service charge. And I don't even have solar at this point, but that will be changing very soon. And then I will probably also just go full off-grid.

Yet a couple of years ago they were converting people left and right to prepaid.

I'm surprised they haven't cottoned-on to what CoCT has done. They just add the fixed cost (water as well) to your rates bill.

There already is that, plus higher level 1 tariffs, plus you pay sewerage per sqm of property size not kl.
