Wait you're Eskom direct and you disconnected? So we have someone from Eskom direct, someone from CoCT and someone from CP who've disconnected... I thought it was impossible and that they will not allow it and and and...Wow, it is really a lot more involved and complicated dealing with the Municipality.
Eskom direct was way simpler. No doubt the more people that do it the easier it will get.

Yeah it will be basically a new 5kWh battery and my current inverter every year. Can we all pitch in and get this man a whisky or something? You are a true champion @denmendez65
CP billing over the last month has been a real cock up, but with those savings that a new inverter/battery every year.
If you'd listen to a lot of the people on here you'd swear it wasn't possible.Yeah it will be basically a new 5kWh battery and my current inverter every year.
I should be thanking this forum. I was convinced it wouldn’t be possible until you guys egged me on. And here we are. It’s your turn now @Slowestclock. Not necessary to move out of Gauteng anymore.

Solar generation? What's thatHows the solar gen been the past few days with the cloudy conditions & rain?
Solar generation? What's that. It's been almost non-existent and a bit of clearing after 3 helped a bit. Otherwise, I think we are in for some bad generation for the next month and a half.
Small petrol gennie that charges batteries? So that leads to my next question, what’s the plan if the sun doesn’t shine![]()
Just make sure it’s an inverter type?Small petrol gennie that charges batteries?
@denmendez65 will be saving on average R20k a year, he can literally buy a new gennie every year if he wanted to
A 2kW generator would work for me for only charging the batteries. But my baseload is so low I don't think I need one. This month and next month are the true test. I already went through winter last year without issues. It would probably never run. I have the outdoor socket and everything ready for a genie. I told myself I will buy it if my kitchen on non-essentials switches off and stays off for a whole day because of the cut off.So that leads to my next question, what’s the plan if the sun doesn’t shine![]()

Remember you should only run genny at 50% load.A 2kW generator would work for me for only charging the batteries. But my baseload is so low I don't think I need one. These would be my options. Small, yes, but I really don't need more than this.

50 to 80, no less no moreRemember you should only run genny at 50% load.
Someone’s genny burnt out running at 75%.50 to 80, no less no more
For an extended period of timeSomeone’s genny burnt out running at 75%.
That’s what’s required when there are clouds for days. For an extended period of time![]()
You don't run the generators for too long, you need to top up batteries or to run things while batteries charge. 4 hours maybe topsThat’s what’s required when there are clouds for days.
