Coke vs Beer

Coke is, though delicious, 100% sugar. I'd go with a beer diet
Explains why I can't get it to pour out of the bottle. Have to use an ice pick to break up that solid chunk of sugar.

It's scary, definitely a No. 1 cause of obesity. Although I myself drink about 1 or 2 glasses per day, I also try to drink about 2l of water a day
Probably the biggest factor in obesity has been driving people away from a diet that favours fat and protein.

In Germany they mix beer with everything, even cola:

That’s not beer, that’s a shandy.

Non-alcoholic shandies is obviously known as rock shandies. A shandy that includes both beer and cider is called a snakebite, I have seen these variants being sold under cocktail menu’s in SA.

There was already a mention somewhere in this thread about mixing Beer with a shot of lime.

More here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shandy

I have seen many stores in South Africa, especially Woolworths, stocking shandy.

They have do have a "shandy" here, but it is called a Radler (Beer and Lemonade). Very different from Beer and Cola.

Yep, cannot compete with the brewmeisters Radler. In SA they are trying their own variations, not sold to the public though (or seen them anyhow). I heard that both our Darling Brew and TriggerFish are experimenting on these varieties.

One beer combo I just can not stomach is Smoked beer. It taste like someone dumped an ashtray in your mouth.

Figured I'd just ask in the first beer thread I found :p. Anyone know any stores that stock Tsingtao in Cape Town (pref. Southern Suburbs)?

I can't help you, but the name of that beer sounds fcking dangerous :D

So recently I have been drinking quite a lot of coke and obviously know it's very bad for you. But today, I was thinking... what is actually worse... coke or beer?

I drink about a minimum of a litre of coke a day, if I had the same amount of, let's say castle light, would i be better off???

Beer belly, it really depends on the person i drink about 2l of it a day at times and i ain't gaining any weight in fact the opposite :p.

Thought the name sounded familiar. I had some of it at YuMe at MonteCasino. Tastes pretty good (on the light side). We tried to find some at Makro afterwards but no luck :(

So same question but in looking for it in JHB/JHB North

However ...

You won't get arrested driving after a litre of Coke (if you can fit behind the steering wheel that is) :p

UPDATE: The bottle-store in Observatory (corner of lower main & trill) sells TsingTao.

So, since I started this thread the idea of having to stop drinking coke went through my mind over and over. So on the 9th of September I took the leap. I stopped drinking coke and eating choclates. Instead I drink a lot more water and when I have beer, I have Castle Light.

Since then, by doing nothing else than above, I have lost 10kg over a two month period. Definitive proof that really really sucks. :D
