Closing of threads is a bit childish. Who is moderating the moderators to make sure that "myadsl forums" remain within government guidelines?? Close the thread and make a recycle bin where we can see why a certain thread was deleted/closed.
The reason was given as to why the thread being referred to here was closed.

ic is also pretty good about giving notice about closed or deleted threads in the Deleted threads thread - part 2 which is more than can be expected. I'm sure they've got better things to do with their time.

I'm sure they have better things to do than delete posts/threads that don't need closing.

......... maybe it is because the USA (including Canada) can't take their heads out their @sses for 10 seconds, and realise that f@cking up a country (read war in Iraq) is VERY expensive and time ........QUOTE]

It seems to me that you did include Canada in your rant friend.

You said: "...the USA including Canada.....f@cking up the country(read war in Iraq)....."

Maybe you should rewrite your statement before you flame me.

As for the banking, as I said, I do all I need to do and if I need to go to a branch(they have those here) I can as well. So what if I can't do triple backflips and then dance the toi-toi with my bank account. I don't care. And best of all it costs me nothing. A wise man once said that "a fool and his money are soon parted".

So he closed a thread before it went down the crapper - big deal. The thread is still there and it's still being discussed.

You really feel hard done by?

WE have power failures at least once a week. not necessarily because our infrastructure is failing, but because they are actually making it better.

Transformer pop, they fix and most probably with newer hardware. So yeah, it does happen, and at least it gets fixed with decent replacements

Indeed! It has been mentioned, but even the line from canada to the US has failed at more than one occasion, they replaced it with some fancy new cable, and all is well.

We're still waiting for wind-up TV & satellite decoder boxes to be invented...

ROFLMAO!!!!!

First of all Canada is not in Iraq.

Secondly, I can do anything that I need to do, online or off for free.

http://www.banking.pcfinancial.ca/a/products/chequingAccount.page?referid=leftnav_daily_banking

What did your friendly neigbourhood bank charge YOU for bank fees and how did it make YOU feel?

Tsk tsk tsk.... You do not grasp the force of our financial sector padawan!

Our bank fees may be high, but if another sector in the economy sees it's arse, the financial sector will keep the economy steady...

Anyways, fully on topic, I do not think you grasp the situation, mr. iarebecanadian.

Our infrastructure is far from collapsing mate. Sure, we have a few potholes, sure, a black out here and there, but we have the moolah to fix it up. Our gov has been issueing bonds in europe and locally the past few months to fund new infrastructure projects. We are not sitting here and waiting for things to fully blow up or fall apart before it gets fixed!

The gap will between the major metros and the smaller metros will take time to bridge, but it will be done.

Friend,

SA has a population of 45 million. The vast majority are achingly poor. SA does not have the depth to improve the infrastructure to the level that would be adequate to serve 45 million people. I hate to make comparisons, but the Infrastructure in North America and Europe is far in advance of what SA can bring to the table - Ever! Have a look at Hong Kong or Shanghai and see the difference. 30 years ago Shanghai was a hole in the wall. Where is it today 40 years later? Where is SA today in comparison.

Sheeshkebab what's with all the name calling here? - sure if her Poisonous Ivyness were posting then it would be different, but is it really necessary to gang up against a forumite from abroad or for that matter fellow forumites from SA?

IC,

It's OK. I can take it. The reason I use the moniker "IamCanadian" is not that I was born a Canadian but is more a play on an ad in Canada for a beer called Molson Canadian, see here:

http://www.coolcanuckaward.ca/joe_canadian.htm

Canadians go to great lengths to distance themselves from their neighbours in the south.

We think that one day, the US will invade Canada for all it's oil and water.

Here is an interesting factoid. Canada has more oil than Sudi Arabia and it has the most fresh water in the world.

Ok, you are going off the beaten track here. Where, and please do tell, did I say that Canada is Iraq ... I would really like to know.

So you will be happy with a mediocre service, just because it is free? I prefer to pay my R180p/m, enabling me to NEVER have to walk into a branch, everything is brought to me when I need to sign papers, can transfer, issue cheques (I can even have those delivered at no additional cost, anywhere in the country).

I always say: "If you have enough money, you don't care to part with a little bit of it" :p

Here we go again. We know we are behind in certain areas, and we are trying to fix it ... might be going slow, and not always like it should, but it can be done.

The rest of the world is very quick to call us a 3rd World Country, which we understand we are (in certain areas yet again). What just p!sses me off, is the fact that the same people who call us 3rd world, ALWAYS insist on comparing us to their 1st world little paradises.

Anyway, this is going nowhere. WE have problems (big ones, again in certain areas), but remember, our country is only "12 years old" so to speak. So don't compare it to yours, you can't.

seriously i wouldnt even try and compare african service with that of a first world country. You are going to lose.

The only cool thing in this country is the weather, the rest is generally either **** or really ****.

Ok, did I say that we will bring our infrastructure up to american standards? No I did not.
I said we will be able to keep it from collapsing, we will be able to expand it too.

I'm not sure why on this earth you thought you have talk about your countrys' infrastructure, and about china, but it certainly was not wat we were talking about. Please read my posts before you reply. I would dearly appreciate it.

Anyways, Hong Kong has been developing for quite a while. Being an old british colony and all.
Shanghai has been developing over 30 years, as you say, JoBurg an Pretoria was developed to handle the white population and workers who came and left every day. Now that we desegregated 12 years ago, everybody is free to work there, live there, etc. You have to realise we have had only 12 years and most of these cities with struggeling infrastructure has seen a massive boom in their populations.

But, as I said before, we can fix up our infrastructure, we can better it and I'm sure we will, we have enough money to do it, we can borrow more if we need to etc.

I second the weather part, but being in the African bush is not bad either!
