So I have a few medical concerns, and of course there is absolutely no better place to seek answers than MyBB.

Yesterday I went for my first Colonoscopy and Gastroscopy to investigate some bowel problems (other long story). It was at about 2pm yesterday. Since returning home yesterday until now, I have been having some pretty sharp pains on the left side of my abdomen. I phoned the doc's rooms this morning and spoke to the nurse who told me it is probably just some of the wind that is trapped and that I should monitor and phone back at 3pm. But I detected in her tone that she isn't too concerned about my problem (i.e. I am just being a wuss and bothering her).

Now to my own detriment I have read up online with a pretty clear consensus that these 'air cramps' should not last more than a few hours after the procedure and that you shouldn't really experience any other pain... and then of course everything after that ends up with you dying...

I was thoroughly, uhem 'windy' yesterday, so I am not sure if it is wind. All the other pains I had last night subsided, except for this sharp pain in my left abdomen.

Any experiences with this, should I be worried?

Never experienced any pain after my procedure. If you still in pain today, maybe go visit the doc again?

It's one of those "Doctor can see you next month at the earliest" doctors so I am hoping if I phone back at 3 (need be) that he can actually make a plan.

call the hospital where the op was done.

Sorry if I sound stupid, but who would I speak to at the hospital?

I also had the discomfort, pains and cramps after mine for a few days.
I would say, give it another 24 hours.

It's your colons way of telling you not to stick things up it!

I had no pain, my Dr was very accessible and addressed all my concerns via e-mail...and I did bug him a lot.

Exactly. Why on earth would you want to go back to them? So they can stick it up there and look again for damage they may have caused?

I couldn't drink the Cleen Prep. Had Gastritus - suffering with Nausea.

farting is normal...maybe the cramps is because you spent the whole day (pre-op) without eating & immediately after the procedure you over-ate?

A bit how I feel atm.

I have also considered this. Although I don't think I over ate but I did have some food. My worry is my pain is localised to one spot. I do have some cramps as well, but they are all over the show. This pain is on one spot. The sister thinks it is just "wind" but I don't get it...

A friend of the family got a perforated colon during one of these examinations, months of serious pain and discomfort. I would imagine if you still have the pain now possibly there was some cuts or bruising as a result of the exploration. If there's still mild to severe pain by early next week then have it seen to asap.

Well I went to the doc on Thursday, he examined it and said it is possible that there were some "Bruising" of the surrounding areas, but nothing he was concerned about. I am going to him again on Friday for the final results.

The pain has improved somewhat, but now I am getting pain on the right side again which now makes me worry about my appendix. So monitoring of this gets worse, but also had pain in that area a while ago and after a whole lot of tests it was established it was only an inflamed colon, but I don't feel like taking that chance, but people say you should be quite aware when your appendix gives problems.

I think the whole are from my mouth to my ass is broken. *sigh*

So sorry about your pain and health hassles, werfie. Will keep you in mind and intentions. Hang in there.
