Much like Firefox 2 for Osx the Windows browsers are not respecting the colour profiles - thats why they looked the same.So I guess the OSX build for FireFox 2.x simply doesn't even support sRGB like it should. Works fine in FF3 though.

You'll find a list of browsers/platforms as well as various tests here - http://www.gballard.net/psd/go_live_page_profile/embeddedJPEGprofiles.html - with the exception of Safari 3 and perhaps FF3 no windows browsers seem to respect embedded ICC profiles. That would mean that Safari for Windows also doesn't respect the profile.
The reason why I think they all do, aside from having read that sRGB *is* the web standard (I have yet to verify this), is that the particular image I use look really bad in FF on the Mac, all washed out, but didn't look the same in any of the browsers under either windows or linux. And it looked the same as Safari.
Of course, the link you posted tests more than just sRGB.
sRGB might be 'the standard' but we know how much Microsoft respects standardsThe truth is that Windows browsers are as color-clueless as they come. They simply throw the raw RGB numbers at the screen with no interpretation.
