Come home Cesc Fabregas

He might have looked ordinary, but he was doing the hard, unappreciated work. (Bear in mind I'm no fan of Busquets). And Spain haven't conceded many, just the one against Swizerland, so he must be doing something right.

/feints!!!!!!!!!

Claps hands - BRILLIANT comment!

Glad someone can appreciate and notice his efforts. He has been superb for Spain this World Cup.

Yeah, he's the much needed link between defense and midfield. Kinda like a middle man :D

Ever wonder why his position in the starting 11 and Barca's starting 11 is never questioned by club and country?

Learn to appreciate all positions on the field and not only attacking players. The defensive midfielder is probably the least admired position in football, nobody notices these players but they the ones who work the hardest on the pitch.

Why are we talking about Busquets on this thread?

Is it just to take the focus off the fact that Barcelona have serious serious financial problems and cannot afford to buy Cesc?

Dude, I agree with you - a DM is usually the workhorse of a team and never really gets much praise. All the best teams have at least 1 in their starting 11. All I'm saying is that if you compare Busquets to some of the other legendary DMs he seems rather ordinary as he doesn't offer much else besides just closing the opposition down and passing the ball onto Xavi/Alonso.

In tonight's game it will be interesting to how he fairs against a talented and crafty German midfield. I'm still hoping for a Spain win though (I've got R16.50 on a Spain win).

Well he played against Real Madrid on a few occassions and he played in that position that has won a Champions League title, he has played in that position in a Champions League final.

I dont see why he would have a problem playing against Germany taken into consideration the teams he has faced before.

Hmmm... well, I suppose it's just my opinion.

Nothing worse than someone who comments and insults but doesnt understand that the two players he is talking about plays in different positions.

Busquets has done a superb job in his role so far in the tournament. Busquets will own Cesc in the defensive midfield department. It is his primary position and something he excels at.

This is the guy who kept Yaya Toure on the bench last season. Unless Del Bosque and Pep must be smoking something crazy to allow Busquets show much game time.

Take those goggles off and try to comment as a neutral. Del Bosque was so pleased with Busquets that he said that if he was a player he would want to be Sergio Busquets, cos he is brilliant.

The kid has shutup all his critics who were crying that Senna needs to goto the World Cup.

Oh I understand very well.

I am just saying Cesc is a better player than Busquets. And two defensive mids? Maybe thats why Spain are struggling to score, bar Villa's heroics.

We'll see 2nite.

Busquets is a better defensive midfielder compared to Cesc.

Not really that hard to understand.

Fair comment dude.

Tonight is going to be epic and he will be key for a Spain win. Hope he is up to it.

Hoping for a Spain win as well. Would be nice to see Cesc in the starting 11 though.

They are really trying very hard to avoid this issue:D

Barcelona teeters on the edge of financial collapse. How? Why? What? Err?

FC Barcelona, who have just signed David Villa, is attempting to negotiate a 150 million- euro bank loan after falling behind with salary payments to players, (according to Bloomberg, one of the few sources of news that I would generally trust).

They hope to secure the loan in a few days, the new Barcelona President S Rosell has said.

“We have to finance our short-term obligations such as wages,” he said, before adding the team also plans to sell defender Dmytro Chygrynskiy back to Shakhtar Donetsk for 15 million euros, 10 million less than it paid for him in August 2009.

Now that doesn’t quite seem to me to be good, well-planned, and well-thought-through transaction. A bit like the Hleb deal in fact.

“Club members can relax,” Rosell added. “The club isn’t bankrupt.”

So, the question is, is that true? And if so, what the hell is going on?

Translation: "We cannot afford to buy Fabregas."

Fact: The scumbags cannot afford to pay their players' salaries and have to negotiate a long-term loan just to cover their short-term cashflow - ouch.

A cup of coffee if nice.

It would be AWESOME to see Cesc in the starting 11.

Need to drop Torres to make it happen.

Oh I am enjoying this. ;)

Business 101:

Do not sell assets for 15m if you paid 25m for it less than 12 months ago.
Do not borrow long term to cover short term commitments (like players' salaries).
Do not spend more than you can afford (like Cesc Fabregas)

Scumbags fail.

All this talk about Barcelona and Cesc.

We will see who will have the last say when Cesc officially signs for Barcelona.

Yup the club is bankrupt and yet they still manage to bring Cesc to the club.

Must suck for Arsenal supporters if this were to happen.

LoL

But it hasn't happened, so why say "yet they still manage to bring Cesc to the club."?

Also, remember, if it's true that the players are awaiting money, it's serious because the season ended a while ago.

This is all political.

LOL!

you're a joke, bub. You go on and on (much like your classless excuse for a football club), and yet, when presented with facts week after week, constantly deflect said factual data/analysis/questions with your own made-up worthless nonsensical point of view, only fooling yourself.

Barca cannot afford anyone, let alone Cesc. You contradict yourself every week almost, 'Barca don't need Cesc' and then 'Barca will get Cesc' ... please! How much sense does it make for a bankrupt team to sign another 50m GBP footballer excluding wages?

I'm sure, only in your delusional mind.
