It will probably end up at 40 million.

But what the Arsenal boys are thinking about 60 or 70 million is just ridiculous.

I don't think anyone (even Arsenal supporters) ever mentioned 70m on this thread. Nivek mentioned 50-60m, but that was in jest, as he was referring to when Xavi retires.
 
Some have mentioned it needs to be more than Ibra bla bla

I would like to know from the Arsenal supporters in the thread, what would be the fee you would want Barca to pay for Cesc?
 
If he wants to go he should go. Whats the point of keeping a player if he wants to leave?

i doubt it will go as high as 50m. I think 35m + a player like Yaya would be fair - but I'm told Toure's wages are excessive and far more than what Cesc is on at the moment. A few websites have said Bojan and Marquez, but I think it's speculative at this point. Everyone is jumping the gun and falling it at the moment.

I agree with your evaluation. Yaya + 35 million, although it is reported that Yaya does not want to goto Arsenal.

Correct.

I'm sure we would want the captain of our football team to want to be part of things, stand up and be counted. I feel as a captain you are also accountable for the success and failures as your team(mates).

John Cross is a pretty reputable journo, especially with his links to Arsenal, so I am surprised that he still assumes a meeting between Cesc & AW took place since the AST are pretty confident that didn't take place. You never know these things, do you?

It is interesting that the club are bracing themselves for a bid from Barca and are as usual tight-lipped surrounding speculation, but I think perhaps they are waiting to see if an offer comes in, at all.


Wenger said yesterday: “We have nothing more to add. The more people speak, the less good it does.”

The frustration for Arsenal is that there has been no official contact from Barcelona, let alone a formal offer.

Therefore, Arsenal are reluctant to publicly deny something which has yet to happen through official channels.

Well not really, Ronaldo wanted to leave United for a while, and he was only sold when Real were prepared to meet their demands, and the same will happen with Cesc..
 
What if Cesc really wants to leave and Wenger makes him stay. I am 100% sure Barcelona wont mind waiting a season or two but what if Cesc wants to leave this season?

Do you think that is healthy for the team and the player?

They were saying on Presspass last night that it is well documented that Ronaldo wanted to leave in 2008 but SAF asked him for just one more season. After he gave SAF one more season, he was allowed to go.

They were saying, whose to say the same never happed to Cesc last season?

The other important thing to note is that Barca will never break the bank for one of the players that they trained and developed in their youth academy. I guess it all comes down to Cesc at the end of the day, if Barca offer 40 million and Arsenal reject it, there is nothing Barca can do.

It will be interesting to see how Cesc handles the transfer - we have seen in the past, if a player wants to leave, he will leave.
