Comedy Central coming to DSTV

BET is on Top TV too actually ;-)

Not every channel on DSTV (or any satellite service for that matter) is operated by that particular satellite service.

Thats is true - but we often get tailor-made watered down versions of a channel, compiled especially for the African market and with hardly any reflection of the same-named channel in the UK or US even though it might be broadcast from there. TCM is just one example.

BET on Dstv?

Which DStv feed are you watching?

BET has ben on DSTV for years, even before i left SA. I just saw recently though that the SA feed is now a duplicate of BET UK which launched about two years ago now if i remember correctly. It turns out BET UK that launched has now become the international BET feed.

Yes, i know that is often the case. I know even here in the UK our local versions of international channels are different to the channel in its home country. This is often either due to the rights for a show already being held with another broadcaster, or as you say, to make the channel fit in more with the local market.

All i was trying to point out is that its not always DSTV/Multichoice that is to be blamed for the content on its channels.

.

BET was never on DStv. They had a channel called "BET on Jazz", and DStv stopped showing it as it closed down overseas.
On TopTV they let they UK ads come through, so it is so strange watching this all African-American programming with strong UK accented ads.

Nice! Brand new SP too! (even tho I've seen it) I can't wait! Just around the corner...

The channel will contain a mixture of international comedy hits plus some locally-produced content.

Yep, thought so

DStv will be "editing" the channel once again, with their own shows and schedules

So ... According to Thinus this channel is going to show mainly old comedy shows, new South Park, and Stewart and Colbert who I watch completely for free on their website everyday anyhow. On the web (perfectly legal) Colbert and Stewart are shown in 16x9. DStv will show it in 4x3, and they think this is premium content, and the subscribers on the DStv forum are falling over themselves thanking DStv for this?!?

JustAsk : Apparently they will be showing Colbert and Stewart 4 times a week.

They will be showing Colbert and Stewart 4 times a week from Tuesday to Friday, which means we'll only be a day behind. Also meaning I won't have to download 8 episodes per week.
