Communication Minister Nyanda's interconnect blunders

The minister almost single handedly got this thing to happen.
Applause is still freaking due, and the regulations catchup must still be commented on.

I think this article is a quite heavy on bashing, and extremely light on support, but it does highlight some concerns, which can be addressed.
But, we had better be there, and there actively, when the ICASA interconnection regulation amendments are opened for discussion.
 
Yes, I think any one of us in a room with 4 ugly Telecoms operators could easily get hoodwinked.

And I think Nyanda is the kind of person who will get very angry and vindictive in response - to the benefit of the consumer.

I like the guy, he reminds me of me :D
 
The outcome is disappointing, but better than we could have expected given the vagaries and cumbersome processes of the ECA.

This is just the first step, though. The second step is in June next year when ICASA will hopefully have all their ducks in a row and finally be in a position to regulate the interconnect rates - on pain of losing their jobs if they fail to deliver on time.

Maybe cyber-paper also has to be filled?
Maybe there is a target to produce x hundred words per day?
Maybe the philosophy is that it just doesn't matter what one says as long as one says something.

Oh my goodness, I cannot believe how MyBB is falling for the propaganda spewed out by "industry experts" hired by cellphone providers. Here is someone who is making an effort to do something about the high cellular charges and we mock him!!!

MyBB should rather direct their anger at the ineffective ICASA and the devious cell phone networks!
 
If 60% of calls are made during "off-peak" why is it not called "Peak"? Its simple, no way, that 60% of calls are made off-peak.

It just shows how they twist numbers to mislead the public

I disagree, and it seems that you are still falling hook, line and sinker for the bull***** government spews at us.
Your so-called "effort maker" is just being dictated by the cellular co's and ICASA alike possibly, and is just doing the bare minimum so that most won't see that he's in fact just another eunuch that wants the bling-cars.

Not good enough by him, not even close.. and no disrespect to the dead, but even Ivy probably had bigger b@lls than he does.
 
I saw his lips flapping just now on SABC3, but did not hear anything from his mouth. But I don't think it matters....

That is a totally absurd argument. If he was being dictated to by the cellular co's, why would interconnect rates have been reduced at all?

As for Ivy having anything even approaching a ball, you seem to have developed acute amnesia.

It's quite insulting that they think he can do the job he has.

I think you underestimate how much effort Vodacom and company are going to put to obfuscating issues related to cellular networks. The guys are smart and are making a killing, what makes you think they will just lie down and give up the profits they are making now. Yes I concede it seems issues have been confused but my take is, this is only so because Vodacom, MTN and company want it so.

Seriously why do they keep saying that pricing on networks is not so simple to understand, what ever happened to listing the inputs, running costs and then working out what the charges should be. Your take that the minister is feeding us rubbish, implies the cellular providers had no part in this confusion.

Does this mean the minister lied to us about the dates or cellc & Voda lied to him abt dates.... because after all they lied to de public by misleading us! Hence the "illegal formulas"
