Communication Minister Nyanda's interconnect blunders

They're Milking us

They are milking the consumer for as much as they can get.
It's time for Icasa and doc to tell them what has to happen.

It looks to me like the DoC does not have a clue wtf they are doing...

Then again, the Cell operators do muddy the water as much as possible in the hope that the DoC will be confused :D

Of course she has. That's what government does. And there is absolutely no accountability, so she'll keep her job, communications in South Africa will keep on raping the public for profit and *Nothing* will have changed.

I agree. When thing get this out of hand its time for the Goverment to step in and force price reductions. Cause seriously we pay a massive rate!

As I said numerous time. MTN to AUSTRALIA = R2.90 per minute. MTN to CELLC/VODACOM/Virgin Mobile = R2.89 per minute. Its unexceptable and disgraceful!!!!!!

This statement is clearly inaccurate, and the only question is how such a blunt error slipped into the Minister’s official statement.
Select from:
  1. I am clueless
  2. I don't understand basic mathematics
  3. I don't pay my own bill so I don't really care
  4. I read my notes wrong
  5. Eish

She who?

are you talking about Ivy? She "passed away" earlier this year. This guy, he is a dude... as in "he". :D

they will make the decisions in the best interest of Hummer, RangeRover and Mercedes.

LOL can imagine an ex-Dept of Defence employee (a bloody soldier) being thrown into telecommunications...

Minister DOC: "Eish, this cellphone thing is confusing. Where do I cock the handset and fire the arial?"

Obviously MTN wanted to do it a month later.. its called profit taking ;) Seems voda + cell-c don't want to be trapped like that

He should trade in those 2 expensive cars for bicycles to reflect his competency.

What happned to his aggresive stance to lowering the IC rate ? Seems he was just playing harball to increase the bribe money.

What action did Ivy take in her seemingly never-ending tenure? Lay off the guy if he's trying to benefit us. I don't care if he benefits himself in the process, but it's about time the consumer saw some benefits too.

I'm all for bennefits to the consumer, it's just the result is so mediocre compared to what he suggested when he charged out of the gate. His drive is also running out of steam very quickly. See next march and the lowering of rates will be postponed again for some or other later date.

It's no surprise if you look at the honorable ministers track record. Look what a great job he did at the SANDF. Remind me again what qualifications he has which made him the ideal candidate for the telecoms job?

2 = I don't understand basic mathematics; are you not confusing this with our friend, Julius?

I think he'd select "3. I don't pay my own bill so I don't really care", 'cause it's us the taxpayer that get shafted twice:

1. when we pay for the blunder, and
2. when we the taxpayer pay for his expenses

Well, whatever you can say about Nyanda's mistake here, he's done more in the few months so far than Poison Ivy did in (edit) 10 years. All she did was make things go backwards, and then spend her last dying breaths trying to sue everyone and appeal when the DoC lost hopelessly.

That's exactly my point. Instead of alienating him, we should be behind him and encouraging him so that he may take similar stances against other operators in the telecoms field.
