Hey all,

This one is especially for the newbies, who haven't really spent too much time exploring, I though I could save them a bit of time try to figure out what all the options in Compiz actually do (believe me, took a while for me to get through them all).

Have made a short desktop recording that shows some very useful functions that I have now almost perfected to make accessing things on your pc a breeze.

Here is the link: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4AymB5XQQnc

Compiz functions being used in this video include:

  • Opacity, brightness and saturation
  • Desktop Wall
  • Expo
  • Animations
  • Blur Windows
  • Group and Tabs Windows
  • Scale
  • Scale Add-ons
  • Shift Switcher

If you have any questions on how to get any of these running, just post here I will try and answer them to the best of my ability.

Also, if you have some cool Compiz tricks, please let us know!

I think its expo that shows all the running apps. And the app switcher. extremely useful.

Cool video.

It would be great if you can make some sort of how to guide to replicate those effects.

Compiz looks awesome, one of the things that got me into using Linux. Nowadays I'm more foccused on speed and usability than actual eye candy.

The nice thing is you get the speed and usability with the eye candy. Win-win!
