I have asked a certain company to stop sending me adverts about 3 times.

Who do / can I complain too as he just ignores my requests.

Yes, I can block his email address but why should I have too - yes i know, im stubborn.

Any advice?

Do you have their email addy? If so, go search for free stuff on the net and put in their email. They should get spam forever :D

Complain to the right authorities

You have to complain to everyone in the chain: you do this by sending abuse complaints to their mail server administrator, their ISP and their ISP's carrier.

If the spammer is a local company, you can point out to them that they might be in contravention of the ECT act.

To find all the suspects in the case:

- Use the headers of the email and find the IP number of their original internet connection (eg ADSL), the IP number of their mail server, the name of their ISP and the name of their ISP's carrier.

Then send abuse complaints to all of them - attaching the SPAM message with the headers.

You can also report them at SpamCop (a widely used blacklist) by registering here: http://www.spamcop.net/anonsignup.shtml

A SpamCop listing will give them plenty of headaches. ;-)

If it's a .co.za address, goto www.co.za and check up on who registered the domain, many businesses go thru places like Hertzner etc.

E-mail Hertzner and complain, Hertzner are obligated to WARN the people that (because they probably use Hertzner for hosting / e-mail etc) they must refrain from doing so.

Does the e-mail come with a unsubscribe option? All mailing lists MUST give you that option!

Yeah, thats true. But some dont have that "button" but emailing the company requesting it to be taken off should work (did that today actually).

If they dont remove you from the list then you can treaten "further action". and then if ti doesnt stop, go the .co.za route.

I don't actually bother replying back and demanding they remove me.
I phone in and throw a hissy fit.

It's fun actually seeing how they panic when you start making threats bout having their e-mails blocked etc.

I must do one tomorrow still ;) Dynamic something or other... they spam me and their unsubscribes do nothing.
