Hi

To my amazement, my Nokia Lumia 610 doesn't support USSD sessions:
http://answers.microsoft.com/en-us/...0f?msgId=e1d51697-e0ba-4c3f-9f9d-27aa637feac7

As a result, I am unable to convert airtime to purchase data bundles on Cell C and am loathe to continue at the default of R150 / 100MB.

However, it is apparant that sending the entire USSD command as a single string could work, e.g.
*147*2?*[1-6]*1*1#

Unfortunately I don't have another phone or modem which can take the Micro SIM, so I am a bit screwed.

Could I ask some kind soul to write down all the options for the Cell C #147 USSD command?

From memory its something like

e.g.
*147*
1 - Balance Enquiry
2 - Convert Data
etc

Then
1 - 100MB for R100
2 - 200MB for R200
etc

Then
1 - Confirm

Then
1 - Yes, really I do want to convert

Thanks in advance!

Stuart

You should be able to load a data bundle directly onto your account from internet banking without having to first load airtime and then convert it into a data bundle. Most banks have this facility.

Good point.

Another option is to buy the 3GB/365 day voucher for R399 from a Cell-C store.
You'll get a 13 digit PIN code and you activate the voucher by sending the *102*<13 digit PIN># USSD code.
This should work on your Lumia, it only has trouble with USSD that requires a response from the user, e.g. the *147# menu.

Thanks for all the replies

Sadly, *147*4*1*1*1#
returns "Oh dear, we couldn't process your request. ..."

I will buy the R1800 200GB bundle for my dongle during the week. But yes, quite a shocker from Microsoft.

A reminder if you do buy the bundle it comes with a new sim card unfortunately you can probably port your CELL C number to the new sim card that way you can use the data on your Nokia phone..

CELL C better push an application immediately that allows you to buy data bundles noticed on their "my account" there is no option to purchase any bundles. Example Data, SMS, etc..

8ta app allows you to do so, even Vodacom app.

Hey guys

Dont know if this is applicable to your issue with ur Nokia but I recently bought a cell c recharge voucher for R50 with the intention of converting it into 300 mb data bundle. I bought my cell c 3g stick a while ago which came preloaded with the 2+1 gig special for R599 or something. Anyhow tried converting my R50 voucher into data last night and the whole time doing so, I recieved this damn message, 'Your request could not be processed at this time. Please try again later or call 140. Cell C'. Anyhow pissed off, I went to bed and tried again the next morning and what do you know..the same bloody message kept popping up! But after reading some of the forums I tried converting a smaller bundle from my R50 account credit and voila..it worked, which meant converting it to 100mb bundles at a time which meant doing the procedure about 3 times:wtf: but glad it worked!!
