Complex refuses Vumatel Fibre

So we had our HOA meeting yesterday . A rep from Vumatel attended and answered all questions. It went much better than I expected and everyone agreed with the plans! So one step closer to getting fibre :)

I know Mr Baillie was very happy with the result :ROFL:
 
Complex is a community. If the community vote against it then you have no say. Frankly I agree with them, and the reason why. Vumatel came through my yard and paving with a pickaxe. They chopped it to smithereens, and this was beginning of last year. They did this without my permission, and I own land upto the middle of my road. (Yip the city council noticed it as there staff member was to get the original owner to sign this over to the city and they didn't, so I refused too). Then vumatel came and didn't patch up my grass section but replace the pink bricks in my driveway with yellow bricks. They supposedly got city council permission to do this too. So now my paving that I paid for 20k the year before looks like sh-t. And nor they or the city council ever comes back to fix it up.

So I am all with your complex. Tell them to go to hell.
 
Oh I got permission from the high court to rip out the vumatel fibre line from my yard. Supposedly as they believed they installed it on council approved fringe and not on my personal land, they didn't need permission, but they did. So I gave them 3 months. If all my paving isn't fixed, then I will slice up their cable and cut off half of my suburb. Simple yet effective.

Frankly, one bad experience doesn't mean that's the way it normally goes. Our complex entrance driveway and gardens were left in arguably better states than beforehand.

This is like one dentist ****ing up your teeth once, and then telling everybody else it's a bad idea to go to a dentist. Fibre is so worth it that I would fix my paving myself if it means that I can at least get it.

Also he's being rather spiteful, if the fibre does get cut to half his suburb hopefully they go after him and his 20k paving is a drop in the ocean.

Yeah it seems he has had a bee in his bonnet about his neighbours wanting fibre, i.e. progress in their life, since the start and just doesn't want to budge, no matter how many other people may benefit.

Neighbors are so inconsiderate these days.

Yup all because he already had fibre done by Openserv (I would've switched to Vuma).

you realise they owe you money as well then if its on your property?
sounds like the council approved it thinking its their property and once done they approved the 'restoration'

100% agreed. One of the reasons I moved to fibre was to get rid of ClosedServe/Telkom. Ironically, holding on the phone now to query what is up with my cancellation request.

Cut off the fibre to half the suburb? I dont think you have to worry about the contractors, you will need to worry about your neighbors. They gonna string you to a lamp post like a mexican drug cartel would.
 
The problem is up to now its not even restored. Today they came again and threw cement over my entire paving saying that if they make all my paving grey with cement, then I wont see the colour of my paving, then it's restored according to them.

The ECA is pretty clear about this;
22. (1) An electronic communications network service licensee may—
(a) enter upon any land, including any street, road, footpath or land reserved for
public purposes, any railway and any waterway of the Republic;
(b) construct and maintain an electronic communications network or electronic
communications facilities upon, under, over, along or across any land,
including any street, road, footpath or land reserved for public purposes, any
railway and any waterway of the Republic;

I think you need to read that poster's posts in this thread again.

The govt road was built africa style and is on his actual land not on the space reserved for the road. That makes the so called pavement his own personal property. That means that he can insist that they repair his paving on his own property.

Or can I come dig up your front garden that you own?

Rather charge them rent or % of the income generated by the fibre that goes through your land. Don't cut your nose to spite your face. This is a great financial oportunity for you.

Correct they have to repair that is for sure. The the OP said he wanted to slice up the fibre...this is what im advising against as it does not matter if it is private property, it's still regarded as "critical infrastructure" and he will be in a world of trouble. The high court order also surprises me.
