some players (xtreamer cough cough) advertised allot of things that it cant do, but dont just take my word for it, go visit the Xtreamer forum
If the Mede8er can do everything it advertised it can do, then thats great (have they fixed that Dolby TrueHD or DTS-HD MA problem yet?)
 
How come you punt it so much?

Instead of say, the Playon.

Of course taking price out of it.
 
Im thinking of saving up for a while longer. Would the Mede8er MED400x be a good choice?
 
I have the MED500X and I'm more than happy with it. I can stream HD video across the 300N network with no problems. It has internet radio and the constant firmware development is very encouraging. The interface is clean and tidy and all the file sharing, NAS etc options work properly. The YAMJ option is very cool as well and I use it to it's full potential.

Mede8er for me is more than enough and more than a media player, it's a family member;)

The Playon actually uses a Realtek 1055 500Mhz, which is a little better than the Mede8er (Realtek 1073DD 400Mhz) , its also between R500 and R1000 cheaper
I'm still not a fan
My major problem with Mede8er is its damn expensive for a very cheap chipset/system board, the Playon which houses better hardware is cheaper, catch my drift?
The WD Live, considerably cheaper than both players and uses a more expensive Sigma Chipset
You can probably say you are paying for the software and support, which is probably true to an extend

Like I said, if you are happy with the Mede8er then im happy for your part

sorry to hijack the thread... but if you are running a htpc with windows 7 ultimate 64 bit.... what would be in your opinion the best media software to use?
extra features of the media software could be cover art, automating series download?

Any one?

If its any consolation HiCorp has the Mede8ter 400x with a 1tb HDD for a about R1 900.
Looks like the Compro might have issues when it comes to streaming and networking.

Thanks, will look into it.. It could also be HiCorp having a hard time selling there 1Tb HDDs :P
If Im correct the only difference between the Mede8ter 400x and the Mede8ter 500x is that the Mede8ter 500x has to option to take a Internal HDD and the buttons on the front panel. The Mede8ter 400x is the Mini version of the Mede8ter 500x

I'm also looking at the Compro but might settle on the Playon HD.

Agree Fully m8 Ive had mine for about 3 years and never had a days problem......a few mkv's play only audio due to their encoding but the fix is very easy - about 1 minute to sort out with MKVtoolnix's MKV Merge.

Fantastic little media player.

Anyone know how to use the BT function? It asks for a user name and password....
The manual is ridiculously thin on Transcode Server instructions or the players features.

Where do I get this MKV merger because like you certain files only play in audio.
