Hi,

Has anyone done it recently? (Pass or fail)

EDIT: What I meant to ask is can you recommend any other books/courses? I see such mixed reviews on the Mike Chapple book and starting a new book now is gonna take some time.

I would like to write the exam at the end of Jan or sometime in Feb and am just looking for additional study material/advice because I'm paying for it myself so I really dont want to fail...

  1. I have done the Jason Dion course on Udemy but thought it was quite meh, the exam questions at the end had a lot of things that weren't covered in the vids.
  2. Summarized Kindle books by Omar Santos and Raymond Nutting
  3. Done a bunch of other videos on Udemy and youtube on Metasploit, NMAP, Wireshark, Intro programming on Powershell, Python, Ruby and Bash, but I really suck at programming.
  4. I've pwnd 30+ retired boxes in Hackthebox but by following tutorials
  5. I have recently completed the CySA+ and S+
Many thanks in advance

I'm not sure on the course material, however I would suggest owning the 3 easy boxes that are currently live.

Following a guide doesn't really mean much if you can't apply what you've learnt from it.

Will do, I know what you mean but every machine is also a mini tutorial on the various tools within Kali and how to use them. I've learned sooo much from the practical stuff, I'm just concerned about how CompTIA likes to trick people with nitty-gritty theory stuff.
