hi all,

I am looking for a good POS system for a computer shop. As we know computers have special requirement, such as warranty claims, serial number tracking and Bill of materials.

does anyone know of a good system ? Web based solution or desktop.

thanks

G

Vist the pastel website.
Pastel has an online(web based) solution.
You can trial it to see if will suit your business requirements.

Fincon

www.fincon.co.za

Used by lots of Computer/Electronic/Cellular Wholesaler/Retailers, including companies like Esquire, Sahara, MTNSP Stores etc

It has all the features you looking for and more, have a look at their website..

Heard good things about Fincon too, pity their website looks worse then ****.

Second that on Fincon, the system itself is very easy to get the hang of (especially when setup correctly) and like mh348 said, a lot of the suppliers here in SA are on it as well.

But yeah, that website of theirs is a blast from the past, Frontpage 98 anyone? :P
Speaking of which, you can download a "demo" version which allows you 50 entries or something like that and a chance to play around in it.

I lolled at the retro website.:D

A software company that can't update a site .... mmm...

I'm going to check it out and see if it's up to scratch.

thank for the help

is there any "non local" systems that anyone knows about ?

Have a look at CommitCRM

There are a few others, I can't remember the names but I'll try and search for it..

The program consists of 6 disks that must be downloaded. It can be installed from an installation folder (default: c:\fininst\) by expanding each disk to the c:\fininst folder and running "Setup" from that folder. Optionally: you can also download a single installation file (FinconSetup.exe) and execute it to install, or download a ISO image file to burn you own installation CD.

Lol. I think a lot of folks never had to endure the pain of installing programs from multiple stiffy disks, only to find disk 39 isn't reading :D

I think the also have a single download file or at least they used to have it.

You can also request a demo cd which will be posted to you..

I was going to try it out, but it's quite obvious these guys are not professionals. Just look at the procedure to get the latest release or update an existing one. NO thought has gone into that. Dog's breakfast!
