Computers disappear from Malema's firm

Desktop computers and laptops have been removed from the company that is part-owned by ANC Youth League leader Julius Malema as the authorities hone in on On-Point Engineers' controversial tender deals.

However, according to staff, it was not the Hawks, the public protector any other public institution investigating the firm that carted away its equipment, but the owners of the Polokwane-based firm instead.

now, tell me that there's nothing to hide on those pc's.

Hope the PP & Hawks move quickly & dont give them a chance to hide everything

if it wasn't the hawks then it is very definitely an attempt to hide whatever incriminating evidence exists on the computers...

Or of course they could have a lovely server infrastructure and all the data could still be on the servers and Malema and co still get screwed.

No, it's not a direct obstruction of justice...yet. If it can be proved that there is important info on those PCs then it becomes even more than just obstruction of justice (which iirc is called something different in SA.) As it stands, the PCs still belong to him and he is well within his rights to do with them as he pleases. That doesn't mean that the actions he takes won't have repercussions for him/them though.

And I highly doubt it's accounting records being deleted btw. More than likely emails in which case afaik there will still be a record, regardless of how many PCs he gets rid of...

These Hawks are so incompetent, perhaps deliberately so in this case which implies political interference. The Scorpions would have surrounded the premises with armed men before even a word of the investigation leaked in public.

Pathetic performance but I am sure the Association for Nepotism and Corruption is behind it.
