Concerns over beggars regulating traffic at busy intersections during load-shedding

I'm pretty sure your insurer is going to ask if you confirmed or had any reason to believe they were not real traffic officers, and then fallback to the rules of the road about approaching an intersection with no working traffic lights..

Here most people do not know the difference between a mini-traffic circle (first to stop, first to go) and a traffic circle (yield to traffic on your right).

At the two mini-circles on either side of the road I stay in you can stop and allow the other motorist who stopped before you at the mini-circle to go before you, but good luck with that, he/she is usually fast asleep/not alert/yielding to traffic on the right for as long as there is traffic approaching from the right!

This is an issue, it creates an incentive to engineer a problem by vandalizing traffic lights. I've seen traffic lights out for practically a whole day (6-8 hours so not directly tied to load shedding schedule, and there are working lights in smaller streets in the immediate vicinity) on weekends that magically just start working later in the evening or the next day, near consistently every weekend and only the weekends, the traffic lights are fault proof during the week.

I would be in favour of abolishing the mini traffic circle. It is a stop street.
 
I reported a busy intersection to traffic department few weeks ago for traffic officer to direct traffic during LS even just in the mornings during peak time as taxis also think they rule the roads during LS . The traffic officers were literally there for 1 week during morning peak time and for the next weeks same time for LS they were no were to be seen since.

They must not be working on the same schedule like the rest of us in the area.

Same frustration here but there is simply no solution to the taxi issue as there can't be that many traffic officers as intersections in SA. In Midrand, they primarily go on pavements and then weave in and out as huge boulders are kept as obstruction by residents. It gets mitigated when officers are around but that doesn't last long.

This... so much this...

They legit have no clue how this works, and you watch time and time again people getting furious because someone went but they don't understand how it works - shame :ROFL::ROFL::ROFL::ROFL:
 
More often than not, I've seen traffic officers, highway patrol guys and even policemen putting on their blue lights so they can get through the traffic and as far away as possible from intersections where the lights are out - CCT
 
The other morning, at a big intersection close to me, a beggar was by the traffic light.
He was pulling a pretend gun from a pretend holster and aiming it at cars - asking them for money when they slow down to figure out what's going on.
On my return trip from the shop the police was busy shoving him in the back of the van.
