Concurrent sessions, what do they mean?

This question might have been posted before, but if it was, sorry I missed it.
What exactly is meant when an ISP says they will allow you only one concurrent session or in some cases 4?
If I setup my dsl like a dial up account, then that would obviously count as one concurrent session. Now If I have a modem with another pc connected to it and I set that one up like dial up, that would be another connection.
But now where I get confused is,
If I setup up my router and two pc's as a LAN. Then I'm only sitting with one connection?? As only the router is connecting??
SO if I had an account that only allows me one concurrent connection, would it slow me down if I had say 4 pc's connected to my router but with a LAN setup???
Any geniuses out there that can help me out with this???
 
1 concurrent connection means that only one router/computer can connect to that account. So like u couldn't give ur account to a friend and let him log in with his adsl line as well as u. U can set up a lan with a router connected to a hub with no problem... u will only be limited in bandwidth to the speed of ur line (512/384/192).
 
So then if you sitting with a 4 port router and four pc's, getting an account that only allows you 1 concurrent session, won't be a problem then???

Cos in that case, a SAOL 10gb account for R349 (one concurrent session is not such a bad idea). I can still hook up four pc's?????
Or am I not seeing the picture here??

You will not have a problem...
 
...so if I had unlimited funds, I could order 4 x ADSL lines at home and get 1 x 1024 ISP account which allows 4 concurrent sessions and be downloading at 4096...

...come on lotto numbers! :D

..but this doesn't make sense to me, why the big fuss about 1 or 4 concurrent sessions??
Why is the 1 concurrent session so much cheaper, I'm sure most people have the same setup as me, in fact the question is I think why pay for an account with four concurrent sessions if you have a router that can support 4 pc's.
Maybe I'm just trying to be to technical, (or to used to getting screwed) to see the light here..

thats not so simple--you get 1024 to the exchange and then you
join the rest of the internet traffic in your area,so you never will get 4096K

Jack the con-current connections help business people with different branches.

I have 2 branches and my wife works from home, that means I can use that one ADSL account at 3 locations.

Off -course the capping of bandwidth is another issue but can you imagine if all you do is email and you have to buy 3 ADSL accounts.here the con-currents come in handy

Thats fine... it will work i got 5 PC going through my adsl line for my complex

could. but i donno how u would connect them together on one pc. unless u have 4 PC's
 
yeah I can understand that,thanx, but what is strange to me is that no other isp's that i have noticed have this as an option. this is a much cheaper option seeing as 10 gb would now cost you in the region of R650.
R350 for 10 gb is just R100 more than i used to pay for 10 gb and as i understand i dont really need the 4 concurrent sessions in the first place. Seeing as I run my business from home anyway.

..I have a PC with dual LAN, my wifes PC and a work laptop...I must find a way...I must find a way! :D :D

...bugger - still need to win the lotto first to pay for the connections and bandwidth !!!

you,could use channel bonding and bond all 4 channels into 1 virtual connection that would have a maximum theoretical throughput of 4096.but remeber the advertised speed is not the download spped, for eg a 384 line will get you around 35 kb download speeds, simply because thiers alot of other traffic being carriedeg arp,dns queries, error control information,statistics etc
