I do not think this will happen soon and I seriously doubt that Sputla's plan to make us pay for his smart meter folly will work.I haven't used an electric geyser or stove in years. Geyser is solar, stove is gas. Do I still have to pay R3000 to monitor/control of nothing???????
Let's hope for some SABC like government incompetence for the next couple of years. I will fight anyone that tries to remove my spinning disk meter.I do not think this will happen soon and I seriously doubt that Sputla's plan to make us pay for his smart meter folly will work.
In the end the authority that sends you your electricity account will have to pay the R3000 per smart meter.
Same here, what R3000?I'm more confused, what are folks talking about? Link?

Likely this:Sae here, what R3000?
The OP is talking aboutthe R3000 our minister of electricity wants us to pay for a smart meter at every house so that he can switch off our geysers.Sae here, what R3000?
I can't believe I'm in favour of incompetence. How well did the Digital TV thing go again...?
*houses - they're using the Geyser bit as a red herringThe OP is talking aboutthe R3000 our minister of electricity wants us to pay for a smart meter at every house so that he can switch off our geysers.
rofl.Ramokgopa said South Africans should do this out of “genuine commitment to resolving the problem of load-shedding”.
hus, as part of the solution to end load-shedding, the government wants to ensure that geysers are turned off when not in use.
Ramokgopa clarified that this does not mean South Africans will not have hot water when needed. Instead, they will only have hot water when they need it.
Why don't we leverage our relationship with Russia and get cheaper gas from them?I do wonder if a drive for gas geysers won't be more efficient in the long run? However, I assume LPG prices will skyrocket if the demand suddenly increases tenfold, with possible shortages?
Let’s see how you feel if you lived in the Karoo. Also, where will they get the water from to frack there? Why don't we leverage our relationship with Russia and get cheaper gas from them?
Our tell the green muppets to **** the **** off and frack the **** out of the karoo and the wild coast.
I was actually looking at gas geysers and in reality the cost isn't that worth it, besides not relying on Eskom. I mean with my electric geyser and 3 showers with the occasional bath, my electrical usage is around 300 units a month, this is taking into account my stove/oven + the dipping into Eskom once in awhile to top up the batteries.I do wonder if a drive for gas geysers won't be more efficient in the long run?
