Connecting a second laptop.

ok let me check when i get home, even if its flash games she plays will she need those specs?

ok so DDV TECH brought a Lan cable for me so my wife can sit in the lounge/bedroom and go online with her laptop. the printer is still in the backroom so i was wondering can she printer from her laptop through the lan cable or do i need a network cable assuming i know what i am doing and have everything setup for sharing the printer on my pc?

A lan cable = a network cable:confused:
Is the printer connected to your laptop? And is your laptop and your wife's laptop connected to the same router?

If yes to both the above you can share the printer on your laptop and your wife will be able to print to the shared printer as long as your laptop is on.

Edit: Sorry. I re-read the OP, you have both connected to a hub, so sharing should not be a problem.

sorry man i dont know anything about cables and stuff. the router and the ethernet box/switch thingy are connected to the desktop then i have the Lan cable running out the ethernet box to the front room for the laptop. does that make sense to you and will it still work what you said?

Yes it will work:).

On your desktop in the control panel go to the printers section, right click on the printer you want to share and you'll see an option to turn on sharing.

On your wife's laptop, you'll need to install the printer drivers and then go to add printer and choose lan printer.

ok i gonna test it now quickly thanks man.

ok i saw she had added the printer to her laptop already. would i need to delete it first then work through the Lan cable to pick it up.

if i say add printer it gives me the wizard and either local printer or a network printer. i assume this will then be a network printer.
