Hi Guys

I'm with Afrihost on a 512k uncapped package.

Whenever I attempt to download updates for my Mac or my iPad/iPod/iPhone it either fails to download by timing out, or it is corrupted.

It's really odd considering it's the only problem I'm having..
Downloading large Apps or music from iTunes seems ok, just the updates are an issue.
I'll try downloading a movie or TV show and see how it fares..

This is a problem with the ADSL, seeing as I tested it with my 3G [500MB worth of data :'( ]

Here are my line stats :

Downstream Upstream
Line Coding(Trellis): On On
SNR Margin 24,4 12
Attenuation 62 31,5
Output Power 5,3 3,6
Attainable Rate (Kbps): 5248 776

Attenuation is very high, could that be the problem?
If so, then why does UDP downloads end up assembled correctly and not timing out whereas TCP downloads end up assembling corrupt or timing out?

Please help, as this is not conducive to my Apple family functioning..
My Mac, iPhone, iPad, iPod, and other iPhone all need their fair share of updates now :)

been having the exact same problem today... corrupt downloads. Not using ADSL though, Amobia uncapped. Not the first time (actually pretty frequent with software updates). I usually have better luck when going directly to Apple's Software download page and just downloading the installer using Speed Download. So don't think it's per se and ADSL issue (as in end user ADSL connection), me reckon it's more to do with the new peering arrangements amongst ISP's / ADSL IP backbone and the Akami servers (think local ones are hosted on the IS backbone?)

Anyway, I feel your pain.

You sir are correct. Those akami servers are to blame. The URL appldnld.apple.com will resolve to a certain problematic IS IP address whereas the same URL resolves differently on mweb, and works perfectly. Methinks IS is a problem...
