A customer is having trouble connecting with his 3G to his work network. When connecting through VNC viewer, it throws an error "Unable to connect to host: Connection Refused (10061).

The APN was first set to internet. Changed it to internetvpn. Does the internetvpn APN need to be activated on the customers line? Or am i missing something??

This is what the Log File reveals:

What does this mean?

this on is a bit difficult to troubleshoot. It might be a port issue, but also I have been unable to use the VPN APN since early last night

LOL @ your signature. Funny. You've been unable to use it since last night, this customer has never been able to use it.

What does this mean?

Check a few things:

1) Does the remote site still resolve to the right IP? (flush your DNS cache, if need be)
2) Is the remote site up? Can you ping it?
3) Local firewall settings?

4) Lastly, try with the internetvpn apn. The above log shows you're using the internet apn.

With your help v3g, i could actually learn something today.

1. How do i flush my DNS cache? And how will i know how the remote site resolves to the right IP?

2. Pinged remote site, request timed out(this must obviously where the problem lies, but i doubt the site is down).

3. Windows Firewall Disabled, Disables Firewall in Bitdefender, makes no difference.

4. How can you see i've used the "internet" APN? I was instructed by a 155 consultant to also try the "internet" APN after we failed to get it going with the "intervpn" APN. He also said that the APN should be put as "InternetVPN.

Here's the log i just saved after connecting with the "internetvpn":

Wait, i think i pinged the wrong IP. They one in bold i just pinged now. Got a response from it.

Dont know if it will help,

I vpn with internet as the apn. We use a dedicated device "Firepass" for vpn connections. It works with no issues. Is your issue not maybe with VNC Viewer ?

You flush your dns with "ipconfig -flushdns" then "ipconfig -registerdns"

ipconfig /? will give you alot of options.

This is a customers setup. He has NETGEAR ProSafe VPN Client. And VNC Viewer 4.

Everything has been setup.

The instructions show that he must first connect to the NETGEAR one. The VNC. But it doesnt connect to either one.

The IT guys at his work says the problem lies by us, and it clearly isnt.

What happens when the DNS is flushed?

Basically clears the dns cache on the local pc.
