Connection freezing!! Please help [solved]

Problem is I don't know what Cell C have given me, and now all of a sudden I'm getting no replies from them after the initial few mails. So I've basically tried all your other suggestions, with the exception to looking in Event Viewer. Will try again tonight as well as testing my modem on other PC's and in other areas.

Windows issue with USB modems faster than or equal to 240 kilobits

Had the same issue with my cell (6110 Navigator), after thinking it was a network problem and going through MTN support (eish). That symptom is exactly the issue I was having. Still testing it now though.

Nokia PC Suite actually came up with the warnning to get the hotfix from Microsoft here>
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/925681

You fill in email and accept their terms & conditions, you then get an email with the link to download and the password for hotfix extractor file, install and reboot is required.

Affects all OS's from XP(sp2) up to Win7

I have installed the hotfix but the problem remains, I'm in Johannesburg, Auckland Park.
I got the modem yesterday, initially I got great speeds, last night it didn't work at all. Today it switches from HSPA+ (with a max speed of 300KB/s according to my download manager) and WCDMA with no signal at all - it does this every 5-10 minutes. Also since installing this yesterday my PC has frozen five times all while downloading different things (it froze while I was writing this and just doing a windows update) and this is a complete freeze, even after waiting a few minutes I have to press the restart button.
I'm using Windows 7 64 bit and I've got McAffee (which I tried stopping and made no difference).

Can you stop your av, then restart with it off?

My connection still does freeze occasionally, but its more like zero to three times a day, instead of 20 times an hour.

If you are refering to that driver from their site, I have tried it as well and I don't think its a valid .exe.

Oronte try connect to the network and give it a few minutes. I normally find when I first connect it locks up and freezes, then after waiting a while the connections seems to stabilize. Still not 100% though and I do still often get lock-ups but I guess that's just the network or a provisioning problem on Cell C side.

I have a Samsung Galaxy S which uses the same 3G network as Cell C (but up to 7mbps) so I tried using my phone as a modem and exiting the cell c software. Two hours of use and the connection was perfectly stable (not very fast, but stable). Immediately after I out the sim back in the modem and the same old problems every five minutes. I'm guessing there's a conflict between the modem and or Cell C software and my PC - but I have no idea what it could be now. Anyone else with Windows 7 64-bit having the same problem? So far:
Everything is patched
I've installed the hotfix
I've tried disabling antivirus
I've tried disabling cell c software and connecting directly via the connection manager this seemed to result is slightly fewer dropped connections yesterday but today that is no longer the case.
I've noticed that when the connection freezes data is still being sent but nothing is received.
Anyone have any other ideas?

It doesn't look good at all. loosing the signal or reseting itself? To find if it is the later connect modem to the back of PC, don't use extension cables.

I'm not using extension cables, and I've tried our on the back and front neither makes a difference I'm afraid. I spoke top a consultant two days ago who said he would call me back, still waiting. I think I'm going to return it for a refund.

Can a Cell C rep perhaps comment on this? 1st week has been absolute bliss, with great upload/download speeds and ping, then the past 2 days it keeps switching every 5 mins or less between WCDMA and HSPA+, and it freezes the connection every single time.

Annoying as all hell, to be honest.

My connection has also been switching continuously today... and the trading apps etc have been going crazy. Have also had a few web page timeouts. But I haven't had to disconnect once, it's sorted itself out :)

Well today everything is perfect, not one freeze, perhaps it's just the network and not my device at all. Yesterday was terrible even using my phone as a modem so I'm guessing all the trouble I've been having is related to the network?
