I have a Billion modem, I have no idea which one it is. But my connection keeps dropping, I have taken my modem to MWEB and they ran it for a day and their connection never dropped once with my modem. I then got a loan modem from Telkom for about 3 weeks and my connection never dropped once.

When I switched back to my modem my connection keeps dropping, you guys have any idea what the problem could be?

Is that thing getting hot ???
could be firmware of just plain faulty components in the modem.
Need more info model etc.

It could be that Telkom provided you with a decent modem where as the Billion one could be a piece of junk.

Check your SNR margins on both.
Could you perhaps log in on your ADSL modem and then post your line speeds, line attenuations and SNR/noise margins here? Also tell us what brand + model modem that was from.

It is a W40. I was thinking it needs firmware, I just don't wanna bitch at the Mweb store as I have been complaining alot.

But no, its not heating up. The modem I got from Telkom was a super cheap one.

I have no idea what SNR is. I can log into my modem but.

How is the quality on your voice channel?
I had a similar problem (including voice) caused by corrosion of the terminations in the Telkom box.
Been perfect since the technician called.
