Considering a move to Namibia

Does anybody have any insight on what the requirements would be?

Given how the country is going down the drain, it's occurred to me that perhaps its time to get out. Getting off this continent will be impossible, so Namibia is my most realistic option.

Besides the obvious of finding a job there and a place to live, what requirements in general would be needed to move there and live there permanently?

I am also considering this. Will be easier to get the parentals there as well and easy travel to the rest of the family. Property is pretty ridiculous. But luckily our company has a branch there and transfer is an option.

I can deal with a f'ed currency... but when EVERYTHING has gone to poop it becomes difficult to deal with.

Yes! Property is scary expensive up here...... Especially in WHK, Swakopmund, Walvis and Henties.....

If you are retiring and want to live in the bush, you can buy old buildings in the smaller towns, really small towns for next to nothing....

Our government is stable...... but heading towards bankruptcy, due to the first two presidents lack of business knowledge..... and the wrong appointees........ Current Minister, is a German bloke, our president was educated in the States and does not tolerate corruption, declaring his and his wife's net worth before being sworn in....made his ministers accountable and made them declare their business interests....... He also stopped fishy multi billion dollar deals that the local papers claimed to be corrupt.......

I got to meet the president way back in the day when he had just returned from exile, changed my view on a lot of things I had been taught......

Our currency is linked to the Rand, but there are rumblings....

Business idea..... for potential investors....... our building costs are expensive as we import most materials.....yet I have often thought that we should try and manufacture local, we already have a cement factory........ but if we could setup to produce local building products and perhaps setup a building company focussing on housing you could be onto something.....

/Moose just mumbling away as he waters the garden..... waiting for braai time!

Oh! And we praat die taal, with some schools still teaching....

So what's rent like on average if you don't want to live in a dodge area? Minimalist lifestyle.

I'll consider it once they break away from the Rand and totally have their own currency, which is not influenced by Zuma and his cronies.

Even with a rekt currency, there are other reasons Namibia would be better to live than here.

Namibia is a very big country with the 2nd lowest pop density in the world...

A lot of people do not like the big open and barren spaces......

From all the folk that I have seen visiting up here....... a large percentage do not like it......You either like this type of landscape or you never return!

Wikipedia suggests the unemployment rate is higher in Nam than SA though, so it should be worse in Nam?
