Lol, trust Nduimiso to actually prove my point for me. Thanks bud! Dolby says he's not comparing, you just confirmed the statements above are saying the same thing, which means that yes, Dolby is comparing PS3 features to standalone products.
 
Kerrang - how would phrase it? Perhaps I had the wrong wording?

So say, for example, something is good, but not great, what do you say? Can you actually say it?

'it's not great'
'there are better units'
'it lacks details'
'it's the best at any price'

I'm not sure what you would prefer?

Dolby, you're missing the point. I think you should explain what the point of your thread was? Or wait, you've already confirmed that it was to sway potential customers in the market for a BR player or media centre not to get a PS3 (duh!) because you're brother believed someone's misinformation on the PS3.
Your brother feels he got burned, possibly you as well. It's not the end of the world, get over it and move on.

Why is it that in order to sell the PS3 (and this is supported by many owners) that the console is flaunted as a great Bluray player, yet the moment it gets compared to standalone players you shoot it down? What should we compare it to, or should we blindly accept Sony's good faith because "they'd never lie to you or purposefully withhold information"? K'rang you can't have your cake and eat it too!
 
demmit almost bought one this weekend but just couldnt justify the purchase. i'm trying to get rid of my debt but willing to buy a ps3. i think i need to rid of my demons before the purchase. i like the blue ray..wifi..bluetooth..media centre capabilities...not even talking about the games...demmit! now i'm conflicted again!

Keep looking. You might find a bargain here and there. Also check out the PS3za forums. Some suppliers give out specials which will be worth your while.

So why not answer to or debunk the links to the reviews and ratings about the PS3 that I posted.

Please give us links to those reviews about the PS3 v and other BluRay player and lets debate that! The two supplied by DOLBY six months ago, and repeated now in four different threads the last few days, will also do but then we have to be fair and debate those that I presented too. Every time I post quotes from a review then neither YOU, DOLBY or Timgaul discuss that quote, its just ignored, and then you just roll back to the original DOLBY comments which he created with lack of real evidence, experience or knowledge. Do you and Tim have so little knowledge and interest in the technology and subject that you cannot do it on your own standing and rather just continue with the DOLBY "game"!

So purchased my PS3 over the weekend....all I can say is WOW!

Only issue is the HDMI cable which is not standard.

Hey! Congrats dude!

BTW: If you wanna waste money, buy the PS3 HDMI cable but you can get them cheaper! I doubt it will make a difference. But ask Dolby. He'll give you good advice on cabling.

Thanks bud....Went shopping for a HDMI cable. I am now so confused. Anything from 100 to 1k.
