Considering buying an Xbox One

Baby no 2 is on the way as well as the winter months. I am considering buying a Xbox One however I have read about the Xbox Scorpio coming out later this year. Should I buy the One now or wait for the Scorpio?

My worry is that what if I buy now will the new games for the Scorpion be compatible on the One.

Note: Total noob

All games will work on X1, there's no Scorpio-only games. I would probably wait the few months for Scorpio though...
 
The Scorpio games will apparently all be compatible with the XBox One. So it will all depend whether you are willing to wait a bit or not.

I currently own an XBox One and will be getting a Scorpio when it gets released plus I probably won't be the only one so there may be an influx of cheap secondhand XBox Ones available round about the time that the Scorpio gets released.
 
I read that the release is in November which is a year away which kind of have me in two minds now. I guess the question is will it be worth the wait? Is the Scorpio supposed to be the new way games are played or will it remain the same as now but with better hardware which will not make a difference for guy like me who just wants to pass time.
 
Just monitor the classifieds there have been a few good deals on xbox ones and ps4's lately, no point in waiting as the technology is always changing...get the xbox one now and in a few years time the scorpio 1/2/3 whatever is out.
 
I am very happy with my XBOX ONE - the games that G4G give you are generally awesome every month where as the games the PS4 gave me were a joke generally.
I don't miss my PS4 - I'm happy I kept the XBOX ONE.

Also, I've noted; CDKEYS.com and G4A.com have some really awesome specials - so monitor them closely for lekker cheap bargains.
You pay for it, you get the key, you redeem the key and bam it's yours - just read the more information part regarding regions.

The way i understood is the upgraded consoles just brings 4k and VR to the experience. If you are happy with HD gaming then just get the XBone

It's a lot more than just a resolution bump...

Fair enough, maybe it has some extra features. At the end of the day though it's a games console and the only factor you should look at is fps and resolution and what games you can get on it. The rest is just gravy that the manufacturer added to one up the competition so you will buy their product instead. If OP is planning on buying a 4K tv any time soon i'd say wait for the scorpio or if you are itching bad get the PS4 PRO.

For me those things don't matter which is why my ps3 is still my favourite console and i still buy games for it.
 
I am not interested in all this nice to have features. I merely want to play games and use it as a media device. My only concern is that I spend the money now and then the Scorpio comes along a few months later and changes everything. I basically do not want to sit with a new old device that no new games are produced for anymore.

If you have to get an Xbox now, then get the Xbox One S. All games will work on it. And it gives you better media capabilities like a 4k bluray drive...

But most people are going DIGITAL with the games - but I guess if he needs it for the drive part of it.
Even I hardly use my drive now in my XBOX ONE as I only purchase digital.

Well specifically because he mentioned media capabilities, and that he's scared of future games not working. All future games will work on the One S, and in terms of media it has the 4k drive and you can stream in 4k as well. I.e. it's a proper 4k media device with HDR so it's quite future proof.

It's worth waiting for Scorpio (which is what I'd do) if in addition to the above, you want a more powerful games console...
 
If you have a 4K TV, or plan to get one in the near-ish future, wait for scorpio or get the XBox One S. Anything which upscales on the console.
