Will search for an existing thread later and merge, but for now, I would like to suggest that the default value "e.g. 08212" be removed from the v4me "Cell Phone Number:" login form field, motivation: it interferes with Firefox's Password Rememberary feature - I first have to delete "e.g. 08212" before Firefox gives me my v4me login details, I suggest moving that text into the field description like so:
Code:
Cell Phone Number:<br />e.g. 08212
Keep it constructive :).

There a firefox module that you can install to customize certain pages, I believe. Now you could possibly use this plug in to edit the default value and you'll never have an issue again.

I suspect you're talking about Greasing the Monkey, I'm suggesting a solution for all Firefox users of the v4me site, of course Opera and Internet Exploder users are probably also affected - these browsers also have rememberary functionality...

Not sure what it's called exactly, was about to go find out and then I forgot what I was doing :/

I think that is it though. I agree that it would be best if they changed it for the ease of use for everyone else, but they don't always consider users opinions very valuable. So I thought I would mention it if you want a quick fix :)

I'd like to be able to send sms to ported numbers (i.e. those that was ported from MTN, Cell C and Virgin) please.

Plain ol' HTML

I'd like to see those graphical fly-over menus (and the many graphic links) replaced by good old HTML links that don't require the whole page to load completely before they can be accessed. Ever tried using v4me e-mail over a slow, error-prone link like those in various African states? It's an exercise in frustration.

Please keep these coming. We are currently in a huge 4me project (availability is already much improved) so the timing is good.

The other issue that often come up is the handset setup info that is out of date.

Now that you mention it, last night I tried to set the Handset type for the sim card I use in the E220, but there don't appear to be any data device handsets listed...

Another suggestion, for customers that use data cards or the E220, provide an additional field for a 'Send Data Network Notice SMSes to: <cell number>' - for the Linux folks that don't use VMC :).

The current site is already a massive improvement from the earlier versions. I remember complaining about the earlier site having more than 60 downloadable elements per page :-) There is still room for improvement though :)

The major current problem is availability.

Get rid of the frames base design - it munches screen real estate.

I do agree - it is not a Firefox friendly site.

Otherwise there is not much wrong with navigation etc - I can get the info I want without much of a struggle - unlike the funky sites of others.

It might be a good idea to narrow the difference in interface between Vodacom and vodacom4me. It should be possible to see the VC rates while logged in V4Me

I know the primary reason for the site is advertising, but please refrain from the very in your face attitude currently used. A more subtle advertising (infomercial/edumercial) approach could generate more sales.

Eg. Joe Soap has this super-duper phone. Does he use HSDPA? Tell users about the advanced functions on their phones and make more sales that way.

Slightly OT: How do I get FF to emulate IE? Can it present itself as IE?
Yes, there are 2 primary Fx extensions [alternatives also available] that achieve slightly different but related objectives of emulating Internet Exploder :):I do use User Agent Switcher, but have never used IE Tab before, although there are ways of getting Internet Exploder to run in Linux, but if you're running Windoze then...

My contacts in GMail are available to me wherever I use GMail, send me a p.m. if you want a GMail invite :).

What about having separate more basic pages that could be accessed directly if you wanted to avoid the main site, e.g.:

vodacom4me.co.za/email
vodacom4me.co.za/sms
vodacom4me.co.za/usage

etc...

Maybe a bit more description on some pages.

Eg the Call Limit page is as clear as mud - unless one does a lot of guessing.

It would be a good idea to explain the function of call limit (eg state it is a FREE SERVICE and excludes monthly contract fee, data???, SMS???, CLI??? and other costs.)

I guess it was meant to say account limit excluding fixed monthly cost - this is open to confusion - you have the fixed monthly costs available to the system - why not just make it a max monthly cost limit function where all the bells and whistles are included in a single amount.

Also, please add the option to be notified by email as well as SMS (currently only SMS or Email).

After shooting the messenger - the concept is excellent! It is a way of allowing the user to keep tabs on his bill.

For me the biggest requirement is a on-line calender, apart from the obvious contact, mail and to-do functions.

With the near universal use of Outlook, it's important that such a capability must seamlessly integrate with anyone sending meeting request from Outlook.

Especially if you're a SME, with a few employees, the cost to deploy your own Outlook infrastructure is prohibitive.

GMail to the rescue... - integrated calendar with options of sharing public & private calendar events :D.

Wise *ss !! :D You probably use Gmail to do your laundry as well....!

I'll check it out. Does it accept Outlook meeting requests?

On a more serious note; would you consider GMail as a practical solution for a SME with, say, 5 to 10 employees?
