A few of the avid members would remember I had a thread on build myself a new PC. I have as yet not done this, because I waited to see the new iMac range.
So now I am thinking of going for it. It costs $1999 + plus the cool new trackpad en maybe a few other things, so make it $2200 max. Plus import tax (think it is 14%), gives $2500 and shipping (I have no clue) I guess won't be more than $400? Gives a grand total of $2900 and that is R22 000. That would be R5000 cheaper than buying it form core group (or maybe more) and building a pc with similar specs and a nice 27" monitor will cost round about the same but then I will be stuck with Windows.
I guess I can go for the entry model 27" also, graphics card is cheaper, but will run most games I reckon...

I don't understand your question if their is one?

One thing about importing (how i understand) is you kindof lose the Waranty. I stand to be corrected. Otherwise if you have the moolah to get the imac it WILL be worth it. Also 27" is HUMAGOUS, i would go for the smaller one, 21,4" or something like that....
That's all.

Wondering if it is a good idea. As far as I know the local Apple stores won't service your computer (under warranty) if you imported it, so it is a bit of a worry.
27" is big, but I want to use it to play PS3 on (yes you can, with an expensive adapter).

I have a 24" iMac that cost R21000, went fubar once the 1 year warranty expired.

I now have a R9000 laptop, and an R8000, 42" Plasma tv.

Worth it if you can appreciate a good quality screen. If you factor in the cost of a 27" IPS screen, it's actually good value for money.
