Hi Forumites,

does anybody know of a company or an importer that brings in these supa-cool Continuous Ink supplies for my Epson CX4300 ?? (type T0921 cardridges)..

Have a look at the manual here:

http://help.echostore.com/CISS/continuous-ink-system-CX4200-manual.pdf

It is just too cool!! It basically connects the printerheads to huge stationary ink containers with small little tubing, and the only thing you need to do it poor more ink in these containers when it is finished.. You basically bring down the cost of colourprinting back to almost next to nothing!!!!

Alternatively, does anybody know of a company refilling my empty (T0921 type) cartridges?

Or lastly, does anybody know how I can refill these myself?

I've bought a good couple of these cartridges now already, and it now broke the bank.. I need to come up with a different way to feed my hungry CX4300 :-)

Epson CX4300

I'm glad someone has come up against the same problem as I have. I bought one black ink cartridge and it cost me R200. It's rediculous! Have you come right with this problem. If you have, please let me know because forking out that much money each time you refill is nasty. Please, I'd really appreciate it.

Welcome to the forums :D

Except for that Beanie nerd hitting on you, nothing really is happening on this side of the forum :-(

Unfortunately there are plenty and plenty "inky" shops in gauteng, but some of them don't even stock the brand new original T0921's, let alone know how to refill them, or even sell the continues story...

Frankly, those refill shops are a huge disappointment if you have a CX4300 printer..
The best they can promise is that they may be able to help you in the future...

Well all the technology (including chip-resetting to get the PC to read the cartridge's ink-level correctly again) is available overseas, so what are we waiting for?

Should I start a inky store myself? Or is the market not big enough for generic stuff in ZA?

Hmmz

Most interesting comment...

If I'm not meant to take it personally, then :p

I wouldn't mind if someone would open an inky store in South Africa :)

While I am at it, and this seems to serve as a wonderful archive of info as well, here some more info on the CX4300 cartridges:

You said you paid R200 for the T0921? Okay, change retailers..!

This guy (or incredible connection?) is taking you for a ride, as the wholesale price I have seen recently is R84 ex VAT, so with 40% markup (already greedy) it is R118 and with VAT it should be R134..

Please let me know what retailer this is? - Name and SHAME !

Then also, remember you pay the same for a black cartridge (T0921) as the other three colour ones (T0922-24) BUT
although they are physically the same size,
the black one (T0921) holds 7.4ml, while
the colour ones (T0922-24) hold only 5.5ml....

And how little is 7.4ml anyways....

Freak...

Sorry, I thought NERD was the combined abbreviations of
"resident techie using WKJ?: in his alias" and
"Striker Extreme, Q6600, 2GB Corsair TwinX DDR2-800, 7900GT 512MB, 3 x 320GB Seagate SATAII, 500W Thermaltake, 226BW 22" as sig :-)

But assumptions are the mother of all F*ckups

Cool screen by the way - I've just got one myself.. No "S","C",or whatever panel I could determine - Samsung delete all info!!! But it works quite okay if i switch this RTA off (use it in 5ms mode not 2ms).. Anyways, different threat.

Sorry, on forums with aliases nothing will ever be personal :-)

No offense taken, mate ;) I'm also very impressed with these 226BW screens :)

You can refer to me as "Techie" if you want to, but nerd seems a bit... inappropriate :p

Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you! Thank you!

I'll try and get one (the system) and let you guys know my experience with it.. It's a bit of an investment upfront (R850), but in the long run it will pay off!

I was also put in contact with somebody who is using refillable cartridges, without the external containers and tubes etc.. In his optinion those are very messy and block up all the time, but his system are the normal cartridges with a filler-cap and a hacked chip. He says you can just refill leaving the cardridge in the printer even!

He doesn't have this system for the CX4300 as yet, but he will look around for me and see if he can help me.

To me that sounds like to best option for what I want to do.. I do not necessarily need the extended external ink reservoirs, and since they seem somewhat problematic, let's rather find these refillable cardridges then?

If anybody knows where to find these for the CX4300, please let me know???

I will keep you posted if I find them as well, and let you know my experience with them once I have them!

A frined of mine had a CISS for the Epson Photo R300, which is the same printer I have. At one stage he was talking about importing them, but I haven't heard from him for a while. They do work quite well, and are obviously very economical for large amounts of printing.

I personally don't buy single cartridges for my printer anymore. A single cartridge normally costs around R130 each x 6. What I do is buy the 6 cartridge colour pack, which normally costs around R550. Maybe these packs are available for other Epson printers?

I have also just bought the CX4300 with the COLORFLY continuous ink supply system. have also been hunting for a source of the CORRECT bulk ink - I gather that it must be Pigment based and NOT Dyebasedink, otherwise it will clog up the printheads. Have you found a source yet ? Gerald

It costs R1000 per litre of ink. seems expensive, but if you think about it....a litre!!

Anyone know a solution for the Canon IP4200 , the cartridges are too expensive now.
Yes, they are. I use the generic cartridges nowadays. They cost less, I paid R80/cartridge for the small ones the last time I bought, and I think R120 for the big black. The only thing with these, is you must re-use the original cartridge chip. But then the printer can't display the remaining ink level. Quality isn't allways as good as original I must say.

Cool!!

Could you maybe let us know what the system costed you, and where we could get it? (Can we get it in Gauteng?)

Thanks!
