Is this really true?

Does this means that I can use my present pay as you go sim card, buy from Afrihost say, 1 G +1 G for R99 and if I don't like to buy data the next month, I can skip a month and then buy again when I want to?

I accept that all data not used at the end of a month expire and new data must be bought again for the current month?

No - You have to get a fresh SIM card from Afrihost. Other than that, you're 100% on the money above.

If you had a contract ( even topup contract ) you could use your existing SIM.

So it means I can go out and buy myself a new top-up CONTRACT sim card (to perhaps save time as I am not always at home or work), buy data at Afrihost and Bob's my uncle!

Looks like cheapest top-up contract would be about R29?

No, you need to get a SIM card from Afrihost. Otherwise it needs to be a MTN SIM as far as I understand.

It needs to be an MTN contract sim. That's what i have. So then you can manage your bundles/data via Afrihost and the Voice/SMS stuff as usual via MTN .

I'm not sure what types of contract sims you get these days, i am on a regular postpaid contract and all i had to do with Afrihost was activate my sim cellphone number on their site and subscribe to whatever package and off i go.

Yes I understand that it has to be a MTN sim card, and contract at that.

Have a look at this!
"The MTN 10MB data bundle allows for data usage of 10MB at speeds up to 21.6Mbps . This month-to-month data bundle costs R15.00 per month , with an effective in-bundle-rate of R1.500, which after using the entire 10MB mobile data allocation changes to R1.000. If you're looking to stay within your 10MB data allocation, you should use a maximum of 0.33MB per day (30 day month) or 0.45MB (22 working days) per day."
It looks like this is the cheapest. So, if I get this plus the data from Afrihost it could work?

O, I want to use this in my tablet which at the moment is on Vodacom top-up - quite expensive I might add....
