My wife is on a Control Chat 100 contract, that is almost due for renewal. Don't see it as still being offered.

What options are there for upgrading that include Blackberry internet services?

Thanks

Sorry to jump in here.

Wife's contract is also due for upgrade. She's been on Control Chat 100 for 4 years.

Want to upgrade her to Straight Up 100 but Nashua Mobile refuses to do an upgrade/contract without a phone and I don't want a phone with the contract. The best they say they can do is a contract with a cheap phone and vouchers. But then the contract price is still too much.

I want just the data, minutes and SMS. When I recently asked at a Cell C store if they can port my number from Nashua to Cell C and give me just the contract, the guy said no they cannot port numbers from Nashua.

Is this true? If yes. Why?

cancel your contract with nashua mobile and have her nr ported back to cellc. otherwise they're going to keep the nr and wont allow you to use it. then take a contract directly from cellc. no problems.

been with nashua mobile myself and had only problems for years. never had any problem with cellc itself.

I have not really had problems with them up until now. In hind sight it was stupid to get a contract with them in the first place. I am always the one telling friends to cut out the middle man.

So your advice would be to cancel the Nashua Mobile contract completely and when taking out a new contract with Cell C ask them to give me the same number again?

I'm porting my MTN number to Cell C in 4 months time. Thought it would be just as easy from Nashua Mobile to Cell C.

I have two ControlChat 50 contracts. One I upgraded 3 mths back to BB and it was an awesome deal, the second one I wanted to upgrade to BB (same deal) last week but decided not to.

With what CellC now offer for BB deals I ended up moving it to Vodacom (last week). The CC deal was going to work out R230pm where I'm paying R170pm at VC (per second billing, R99 airtime, full BIS, 9320).

For me CC is doing wonders with a lot of their deals but their BB deals are the worst and offer the least value.

The shop assistants don't know what they're talking about.

This is what you do. At NM, request that your number be changed to prepaid at the end of the last day of your 24th month. Do not, repeat, DO NOT use the words:"cancel/cancellation" else they will delete your number off the network and you will lose it.

Wait for the number to go prepaid. Make double sure you have paid every cent owing to NM. Remember, you may still get a bill 30 days after the 24th month for calls/usage up to the last day of the contract.

Then just go to a Cell C store and take out a new contract. Don't mention NM to them. Just say it's a prepaid number you want to take over on contract.

WINNING!!!

Thanks this is a great idea. I just hope they won't have any excuse for changing the number to prepaid.

+1000 Very good advise.

WHAT EVER YOU DO DON'T USE THE WORDS CANCEL AT ALL.they need to simply switch you to prepaid on your current network.

Porting from pre-paid is child's play (you just go to your new provider and they'll do everything for you)
My cousin made the mistake of "canceling" his contract and could not get his number back.

Thanks for all the advice guys. Worked like a charm.

Wife's contract has been set for migration to pre-paid on the 31st of October. Will pop into a Cell C shop or ask @Cell_C on MyBB to help me sign up on the 1st of November.

Okey Dokey.

Number has been migrated to prepaid with no problems.

Now to decide. Do I go normal Straight Up 100 or Straight Up 100 Top Up.

Can somebody please explain the difference between the two?
The way I understand it is with the Top Up you can't do any outgoing calls/SMS/data once you hit the 100 mark. Whereas with the normal package you will just be billed OOB rates for everything you go over 100? Correct?

Assuming I am correct, what happens if she hits her 100MB data limit early in the month? Can I just add another R15.00 (100MB) data bundle like I did with her on pre-paid now?

Thanks for helping a noob out here. It has been years since I last changed anything on our cellphone contracts.

Sounds about right from my understanding of top-up although i have never had top up as getting airtime is too much effort for me.

with the TOP UP you will need to load airtime once your cap is used up and with the straight up you will be billed.

On top-up, international roaming options are limited.
