Conversion of Video Files

Hi all,

I have a few .mkv files that I want to convert to .avi with the correct codec so they can be played on 'certain' DivX DVD players.

Can anyone help me with that?

Tell me how to do it, etc.

Oh, the quality must stay the same! That's very important.

Eish. MKV containers are tricky. They can contain multiple audio tracks etc. I'm busy trying out automkv. Still cannot get the audio right. WinAvi works but the quality is not tip top (plus you cannot crop etc. AFAIK) I think most mkv use OGG for audio.

you must use the highest settings available in WinAVI to get the best results, as the quality depends on what xvid settings you use. yeah it's not the best on the market, IMO, TMPGENC Xpress is theee best. i mean damn, you should see the quality it produces. astonishing. Unfortunately, it doesn't convert mkv.
