How do I convert mpeg4 audio files to mp3 using Virtual CD?

The normal way is to burn an audio CD using Itunes, then importing the CD again into whatever format. But this is tedious and will take ages, not to mention a lot of discs. Can I use Virtual CD to do this? I installed virtual CD, but Itunes does not give me the option to change to the virtual CD drive. I tried disabling my CD burner and still Itunes does not pick up virtual CD. I have itunes ver 8

was looking in the wrong place... found a much simpler method.

for anyone having trouble with converting m4a files to mp3 on a pc using iTunes. It’s pretty simple but easily missed, so here goes… all you have to do is go into edit, then preferences. When the preferences screen appears, click on the advanced tab and you should see a drop down menu called Import Using: click on this and scroll down to “MP3 Encoder”, click ok iTunes should automatically make the changes. To change the song to MP3 all you have to do is right click on your chosen song(s) and click “Convert Selection to MP3″ iTunes should automatically change the file to MP3 (It makes a copy of the song, one as an M4A file and the other a MP3)
Hope this helped!
