Right, so done with my third Tfal pan, and old pot set handles have now nearly exploded due to heat and contraction over the last ten years. I need to get new cookware, but there are hundreds of options out there. I have a cast iron pot set that i cant live without. Can anyone recommend a pot/pan set that is decent and preferably doesnt have that easy slide crap on it that burns away or scrubs off with normal use. I have a Gas stove and Oven, and can be a little hard on the cookware, hence my love for cast iron. Unfortunately budget isnt my strong point, however an investment is not overlooked. Thanks in advance.

AMC pots are always the best. But they cost around 1.5k each. They have lifetime warranty though.

I'm also a fan of AMC or even Aloe Waterless, which was very similar. Got the missus a few Le Creuset items last year and they're nice, although I stress about the paint-job being scratched against other pots. Also not wise to use on a high heat, since the cast iron does an amazing job of retaining heat

If you like cast iron then do yourself a favour and start googling for Cookwell cast iron pots. They come with metal rimmed glass lids or enamel coated metal lids. Got a set here which >10+ yrs old and they are awesome! They are oven proof and I use the big mama one for stews and stuff in the oven. Go for the metal lid ones or get extra glass lids if needed.

I had a quick google and only really see them at the local online auction sites and they are not pricey at all compared to these fancy brand name pots.

These things have thick walls, an even thicker base and are fsck heavy so don't ever drop it on a tile floor or your foot! Think the big one weighs about 7kg.

These a bid or buy seller named 'lorrainemc' who seems to sell quite a lot of them, all second hand though.

I always have a non-stick frying pan for breakfast stuff. Bauer is king in my opinion. But, if you go this route, I found that the newer marble-tech one sticks more than the older smooth ones. Especially with scrambled egg.

Bauer is king in my opinion.

Bower is kuk considering what you pay for it. The other problem is they have quite a thick base so quickly changing temperature becomes an issue. Best frying pan ever is a el cheapo thing aluminium (with teflon coating) I got from spar. The teflon is kinda worn through now but I still love that pan, the bauer does not get taking out of the cupboard any more.

Been reading these teflon and other, eg neoflam cookware, coatings can be carcinogenics? Even the upscale ones you would expect not to have any problems.

Aloe Waterless,
If you consider stainless on a budget, this is what you get. I have 2 budget stainless sets, and the Aloe brand is tops. I got it from Game for less than R300/set. Might be a bit more now. I've had mine for about 7 years now, if not more. Not burnt and the handles is still in perfect nic. Look for the Aloe logo at the bottom.

As long as the nonstick coating is not scratched or removed in any way then the carcinogens stay trapped. Can't remember where I read that but its supposedly dangerous to use pans with damaged non stick coatings in confined areas with little ventilation.
Don't take my word for it though.

AMC ftw, my mum gave me two pots that are already like 15 years old, still in perfect condition and works like a charm..

The same as AMC basically no difference- they are quality tested for the AMC group. Heavy as all hell.Full set. Nice price. I have a set. Then go get some decent nonstick pan with the money you've saved.

The ultimate is the French cookware. But unless you have big pockets and anyways here the prices are simply a rip for the Le C brand.

Nice. Pity the FNB one is sold out, but the Groupon one is still a decent saving.

You must be Indian.

Hart pots.

Guilty:-) Iv been brainwashed by family to buy try out AMC pots. Only have one myself though. They just really expensive.

What I would like to know though is, when I speak to people they say certain pots cook food better than others. Is this true? Like how would you know the food is cooked better? Does it taste different? Just find it hard to believe.
