Cool Ideas Fibre ISP – Feedback Thread 5

Not open for further replies.
No internet. Southfield, Vumatel Trenched. Same issue as last few weeks. Everything on just no internet.

something is very wrong somewhere.

Apple streaming and services are shot. I'm getting high speeds on speed tests and Netflix is fine, but playing music, using Siri, and watching on AppleTV is basically non-usable.

I switched the router to RAIN modem, and the Apple services begin working perfectly. So its something specific to Cool Ideas ISP (or upstream)..

Ok just tried to play something on Battle.Net - its shot too. Keep getting disconnected due to timeouts.

@CrypticZA

Not sure what you are on about, I never said that, please quote where I said "They don't want Openserve..."

@TheRoDent

As I said in my reply that you clearly did not read.

Stop deflecting onto a new pet project. Fix what I am paying for now. 100+ hours of no internet for the month of March.

Edit: Fixed broken links

Apologies, but I had the same recollection that CrypticZA had -- that openserve is a problem on your property, from your comments.

And it is even worse over long runs, (my old house has a long run), because the monkeys love to use them to avoid dogs and so on.
But if the run is long then the whole troop will be on the line at the same time.

Apparently Openserve does trench the line in some cases, but they are not coming here to have a look if they will or will not do it. Maybe Cool Ideas can get someone to have a look to see.

OpenServe will only do a survey, if an order for a service is placed, and then they will discuss it with you, and us. They will not just come and "look and see".

As per my previous comments, Vodacom is terribly unreliable, and has terrible turn-around times, and the only resultion we have as an ISP is to log the fault, after having gone through their myriads of "diagnostics" procedures, which we have, in your case.

In my experience OpenServe has better on-site support and escalation support than Vodacom, which is why I would recommend OpenServe.

We will happilly switch you over to OpenServe and cover the installation fee (within reason) as we do with all our customers.

Page 719 the idea was given and you kept deflecting away from a solution to your issue, you even acknowledged your neighbours on OS weren't having issues. Instead of taking their opinion and switching you continued to complain and complain. Yes it sucks but hey everyone knows Vodacom aren't great and ultimately they need to fix the issue which could take weeks.

If you worked with CISP they could have terminated the Vodacom line and had a Openserve tech come install rather quickly but instead you keep just complaining about Vodacom - I have seen them do this practice before because it causes them less issues and costs less resources having to fight with Vodacom.

Maybe if you changed your approach and asked what would it cost to switch before you know it your problem could have been solved.

As I said, my property is a funny shape that means Openserve _might_ not be an option

I don't know how that works ... the only option on your site is for me to pay for a new connection.

What you are offering here in front of everybody is not available to me as an option on your site.

That's nice, I didn't know Cool Ideas felt that way about Vodacom, it would have been nice to be told that +2 years ago ... or even a year ago .. or even 2 weeks ago.

Just for the record, is it a new thing or did cool idea always feel that way?

Does not help my current problem

Even if I pay for a switch over right here, right now, (at some cost), I am realistically a month away from being onto a new provider.

So, as I said, please, sort out my current issue an then we can look at me moving somewhere else.

Or, if you are happy to do it, refund my March payment and cancel my contact until I move to a new provider.

Page 719 ...
Ok, so no link, so just to be clear, I never said "They don't want Openserve...", you made that up.

I am paying, right now, for a service I am not getting and you want me to move over to a new service, (that will take a few months ... but I must keep paying for the bad service in the meantime?).

Until a couple of days ago Cool Ideas never once mentioned they hated Vodacom,
Until a couple of days ago I didn't know Cool ideas wanted me to move over.

Even if I was to say yes, right here, right now, I am paying for a service I am not getting.

What is bizarre to me is that you are saying I should shut up because, while I am paying for a bad service, I should be happy and smile because there is another service that might be available ...

As I said, my property is a funny shape that means Openserve _might_ not be an option
Openserve will determine that. Again, you seem reticent on the Openserve option, not sure why.

You may log a ticket, and reference this post on MyBroadband, and I will aprove the move to retain you, within reason. I am a director of the company.

Every situation is different, some portions of their network is fine, others crop up with MTU issues (which is why you were asked to tweak MTU so often) due to issues on their backhaul, or new paths that they route over, and suddenly resolving an issue could take weeks.

Does not help my current problem

Openserve installation times are pretty good, once an order is placed. But that's a long-term solution. Pushing Vodacom to resolve the matter is the preferred short-term solution, which we have been doing. OpenServe however, is the better option.

So, as I said, please, sort out my current issue an then we can look at me moving somewhere else.

I cannot refund you -- if Vodacom won't refund me, and they won't. You're welcome to move to another ISP, but as long as you stay on Vodacom, I'ts likely that the future ISP will have to follow the same channels, the same process, and will likely result in the same downtime when there is an issue.

Openserve will determine that. Again, you seem reticent on the Openserve option, not sure why.

What réticentes? Please quote réticentes...

Again, stop deflecting and wasting time.

Don't reply any further, you at wasting my time and my LTE data.

Just fix what I am paying for and stop going on about what I could be getting if I moved somewhere else next week, next month or next year.

Nobody ever said Cool Ideas hates Vodacom, just that their support is bad.

Just like you didn't say you don't want Openserve, I suppose.

As per my offer, long-term I would prefer if we can get Openserve installed.

We have worked within Vodacom's escalation and fault logging procedures.

If the matter is not resolved by Tuesday, I am willing to send you a fixed-LTE router and SIM (subject to coverage) until the switch to Openserve. Again, you can quote this post in a ticket to our support team, and I will authorise it.
