And why should one care if it's aerial or trenched, besides the fact that it could look ugly?

What makes Vumatel better then Fibrehoods? I'm not very familiar with the technology used.
Vumatel uses AON so better network management on their side. But it doesn't really matter if Fibrehoods can give a reliable service for less. Vuma is not immune to network outages so if a break happens in a major cable it's goodbye internet for a whole lot of users.

That is true, but the same is true for all. If a major cable is hit, anybody would be down, that is where the turnaround time for errors comes into play.

Also depends, Vumas network has diverse paths etc into each POP so a major break shouldn't affect a major amount of users. That being said they have had POPs go down due to power issues.

I remember there was a fibre break in linden that took a chunk of Blairgowrie down. Took about 4 hours to have them up again?

Yeap if it's a new build it will start with a single path, and they will then build the second path into another suburb after that.

Hi PBCool
I was looking to switch to cool ideas, applied on CISP website, approved a switchover cancellation from metrofibre 2 weeks ago, requested a followup (installation and account details) from CISP twice on the coolzone ticket system.
Not familiar with the process but haven't heard of any progress for 2 weeks now. Would appreciate some assistance.
Thanks.

The MFN changeover process isn't an easy one, drop me a PM with your ticket number.

PBCool I'm currently on Openserve through another ISP and would to change over to CISP. My understanding is that their is no clear way of transferring other than, cancelling my line with my current ISP and waiting for the line to be released into a pool. How long will it take for CISP to take ownership of the line again and any idea what the down time window will be like?

Just concerned because I work from home and can't afford much down time. Are we looking at hours, days, weeks?

You probably want to avoid a term like 'cancellation' with regards to your line when cancelling with your current ISP. What you want is to migrate your line. You should not experience downtime while the line is in the holding pool. As long as Cool Ideas are aware of when they should claim it you should have no issues at all. I experienced no downtime when moving from Crystal Web to Cool Ideas last year.

Yeap exactly this, you want the line moved into the holding pool, not cancelled, you would just cancel your service with your current provider and have them move the line into the holding pool. Once you get confirmation as to when this would happen you let our connect team know and they would claim the line as ours.

PBCool I live in Sunningdale Zone 2.2 which goes live on Frogfoot on June 16th. Would it speed things up to put in an order with you guys now in preparation for the live date so my fibre can be installed as quick as possible after that, is it possible, or do I have to wait until the actual go live date of the fibre before I can put in an order?

Shot!
