[Resolved] Cool ideas partially down

This issue was speedily resolved and is no longer valid

I have cool ideas fiber 50/50 via vumatel.

Some sites are down but are working via 3g on mtn and cell c. Its been like this for over 2hours.

I have tested on several devices and other sites like this one are operating normally.

sites:

www.nomu.co.za
www.msn.com
www.news.sky.com
http://www.woolworths.co.za

some images on pinterest dont load.

Anyone else experiencing this / perhaps know whats going on? I saw a comment that they were doing upgrade this week in another post on this forum. I didnt recieve any downtime notices.

Disclaimer: I have had no other issues with cool ideas and have really been impressed.

The above was a bit annoying as my girlfriend was trying to use the nomu site to find a recipe while cooking. Seems like random pattern of sites not working.

Update
I had a deeper look and nomu is hosted on ip 41.215.232.82 but its a shared ip. The ip is accessible but the hostname is not. So it could be a DNS / proxy issue.

Update
DNS resolves so it is not a DNS issue.

Hi Seburn.

Apologies, we brought up some new international peers via LINX (the London Internet Exchange) earlier tonight, and it appears we had some MTU issues over our new international path. This caused a number of routes to look pingable, but caused a whole bunch of TCP retransmits and stalls.

We detected some issues with battle.net and a number of other UK peers as well. We've disabled our direct BGP peering in the UK, until we can resolve the issue.

It's strange that some of the local sites you mentioned were affected too, but we did have a bit of weird async routing going on.

Please let us know if you still have issues by pinging [email protected] or by replying here.

Cheers.

Keep providing awesome service :)

Basically, everything works except World of Warcraft.

Grrr @ missing an evening of raiding.

Experiencing issues tonight as well. Soundcloud, Netflix, among others, all time out.

Had a similar issue about a month ago and, after some time with support, had to get a new IP assigned to me. I've emailed their support; will wait for a response. I hope this won't become a monthly song and dance...

My problem seems to have been resolved. Yay?

btw, battle.net seems to be up?

I am getting very slow PSN download speeds. @PBCool, please can you check it out

I've been getting slow download speeds as well. 4Mb/s on my 50Mb line.

Xbox Live gives me 49,8Mb/s - so it's not a line issue.

Having major international issues now. XBL downloads running between 2Mb/s and 4Mb/s (instead of 50Mb/s).

We have just doubled international capacity via peering at LINX as well, speedtests unfortunately aren't accurate readings for international transit. Please log your slow downloads with us on [email protected]. But will investigate for you anyway.

Hi PBCool, what would you suggest for an alternative international speedtest?

Logged. Trying to download a 2gb patch on PSN and it says it'll take 27 hours. This only started a few days ago so it has to be related to recent network changes you've made.
