Honda is bringing this wicked Type R-engined Accord estate to SEMA
Fifteen52 and Mountune USA built this glorious JACCS-inspired estate earlier in the year
We must sincerely apologise – when Fifteen52 and Mountune USA unveiled this fantastic JACCS-liveried, fifth-generation Honda Accord estate that it had built in collaboration with Honda Performance Development (HPD) back in May, we completely missed the chance to show you it. We’re very, very sorry.
Thankfully, Honda has decided to bring the finished project along to the upcoming SEMA show in Las Vegas, so we get to have a good look at it all over again.
Just fantastic, isn’t it? The iconic livery is of course inspired by the 1996 JTCC Championship-winning Mooncraft Honda Accord, and the whole project was used to promote Fifteen52’s Super Touring line of wheels.
However, it was also a chance for HPD to promote its K20C1 crate engine package. For those not familiar with Honda engine codes, that’s the 2.0-litre turbocharged four-cylinder from the FK8 Civic Type R which puts out 306bhp and 295lb ft of torque in US spec. So yes, this is a 1996 Accord estate with a modern-day Type R engine. Very, very cool.

Had the good luck to drive such a car long ago. Handles nice, and all that, but the fuel consumption... eish! Was a company car though.
...and the engine can do with a couple of tweaks to produce much more power.

Manhart CR 700 is a wild 520 kW C63 AMG Estate
As the world prepares to bid a fond farewell to Mercedes-AMG’s M177 4,0-litre twin-turbo V8 mill in the C63, Manhart has decided to give the ‘hot-V’ engined C63 a proper send off – they’re calling it the Manhart CR 700 Wagon.
Thanks to an in-house turbo performance kit, carbon intake, intercooler upgrade and ECU re mapping, this wild wagon does the 100 to 200 km/h sprint in just 5,5 seconds thanks to its 523 kW and 920 N.m.
To add some thunder to the CR 700’s performance, the C63’s AMG exhaust setup can be combined with either Manhart sports downpipes with 200-cell catalytic converters or completely de-catted race downpipes. Manhart’s engineers have also adapted the AMG Speedshift MCT nine-speed transmission accordingly in order to manage the additional power and torque.
