Copper cable thieves arrested

Well at least this time the bribe wasn't taken -pitty they weren't fried whilst stealing it - best soloution.

This. If they can't trace it, they should be fined for accepting it.

Copper-ICA? (RICA/FICA for copper :p)
There is a Second Hand Goods Act that forces the store owner to keep a register of all transactions (buy/sell). They must also have a special licence to keep copper (amongst others) on their premises. What you find is that they comply by that their recordkeeping is economical with the truth and that many of these are "approved" by Eskom, Telkom, Transnet as their "official" outlets for legitimate business.

And they will do what with them? Send them to jail with a weekend pass to steal more.
Why bother.

We should all shoot criminals on site, it will be more effective for our tax money.

Or at least loose a hand, but then I suppose we will have to pay for their medical costs. Wait, we do that anyway.

Why don't they just ban trading in 2nd hand copper. May be that will kill the market. Anybody found with copper should be thrown in jail and the key thrown away.
