Johannesburg - Four policemen have been arrested for allegedly shooting dead a motorist in Pretoria central on Monday, the Independent Complaints Directorate said.

Nkosinathi Ntuli, 23, of Doornpoort was allegedly driving his Toyota RunX on the wrong side of the road on the corner of Boom and Cowie streets, when he was shot dead, spokesperson Moses Dlamini said.

Dlamini said the officers - a captain, two sergeants and a warrant officer - were arrested because nothing on the scene indicated that their lives had been in danger and that the shooting was warranted.

When the incident happened the officers were driving an unmarked vehicle and the driver was not in police uniform.

The other three officers were in uniform.

They were expected to appear in the Pretoria Magistrate's Court on Tuesday.

Glad they were caught, else this would have gone down as a "failed hi jacking". :(

It's cops like these that will bring up the discussion whether or not they are allowed to shoot at REAL criminals!

What's your view on the topic?

The streets in that part of Pretoria are very confusing, the driver may have thought that he was driving down a one-way - and then he just gets shot ???

my view is "no comment"

any comment will be labelled as "racist".

Maybe you should not have replied at all.
You are quite the accomplished troll - and your whining about the racist label I imagine is borne of all the infractions you receive for racist posts?

That article does not have enough detail for you to come to that conclusion IMO. Here is a more detailed one:

Its quite long so I will quote a few parts of it.

He was confronted by the Soshanguve and Atteridgeville policemen as they drove down Boom Street to their headquarters in Pretorius Street.

It is believed Ntuli, who some officers have alleged was drunk, took a wrong turn and narrowly avoided crashing into the policemen and several motorists.

The policemen, pursuing the unarmed Ntuli, eventually forced him to stop on the corner of Boom and Cowie streets.

Sources said Ntuli was shot moments after he drove off from where he had been stopped and had allegedly dared the policemen to shoot him.

The policemen shot his champagne-coloured Toyota RunX six times, hitting his car's left rear wheel, back left window, rear window and boot.

Despite the rather subjective reporting done here, it seems the irrational behaviour of the dude points to him being drunk, IMO. So lets see, he was possibly drunk, driving down a one way street into oncoming traffic, was stopped, and then drove away "daring" the cops to shoot him!?!

And looking at where the car was shot at, IMO, it shows the cops were trying to stop the car, but the dude just carried on!?!

Hate SAPS all you want, but IMO, they took one drunk arrogant prick off the road. And the reporting so far points to VERY subjective reporting with the intention of increasing clicks on the article. The dude was hardely "slain".

@sox63, the police could have at least helped the guy out of his car they are the ones to blame. According to a report on EWN the car burts in flames and the police did not even try to help him out of the car.

His uncle Victor Ndala said police did not even pull him out of the vehicle before it caught alight.

“After shooting him he lost control and then he went to a scrap yard. From then one of the police women came out of the car to check him and they left the scene. The people then took his body out of the car, thinking it is going to burn,” said Ndala.

Ntuli’s friend Carelight Sihlangu has also disputed claims that he was drunk.

“Nati had stopped drinking for a number of years. He was coming from work and he knew Pretoria like the back of his hand, so he knew exactly which streets he could take and which ones he could not take. When they say he drove on the wrong side of the road, that is wrong,” said Sihlangu.

If I am driving at night and an unmarked vehicle tries to pull me over there is no chance in hell that I will pull over.
