Just ran a 3dMark 2006 on a system.
1694 3dMarks
2021 CPU Score

System specs:
E6600 2.4Ghz
1gb DDR2-667mhz (2x 512Mb)
250Gb SATA2-16mb Seagate HDD
Leadtek 6600GT 128Mb PciX
Intel® Desktop Board D946GZIS (http://www.intel.com/products/motherboard/d946gzis/index.htm)

Don't think the test uses both cpu's.
Ran Task manager in the background, only one of the cpu's showed load. Will go disable a cpu and re-run the tests.
Got PCMark05 & SiSoftware Sandra, must still run test.

Post all your Core 2 Duo benchmarks here. :D

Aquamark 3.0

Intel DG965SS E6600 2GB DDr2 667 EVGA 7800GT CO @ 470/1100
All Stock settings:

Aquamark = 112,698

Best I could muster with my AMD 4800+ X2 was = 80,780

Supertone

i cannot believe that supertone

ive got a 3800 x2 with a 7600gt

i got 81500 with my cpu running at 2.4 and card at stock

i doubt that with a 4800+ and 7800gt you would score so low

Core 2 Duo

Look up benchmarks for the E6600 and you will see that there is a dramatic increase in performance with the new Intel chips. As far as the AMD 4800+ and 7800GT goes I didn't have it overclocked and I was using an A8V-MX Asus board.

Killadoob I'm not sure him postign a CPU score of Am3 is going to help much. Unfortunately AM3 CPu score changes with GPU used. So it's not comparable with another CPU using a different GFX card :(

Maybe your 3800+ was oc'ed as 81K sounds about right for a 4800+ stock.

Sorry to hijack! I'm sure you guys are used to it right now. But the point is that even if you are a AMD fan (fanatic not cooler) like me. you have to face it that the Core2 Duo is the CPU to have at the moment. I'm on a 939 system currently and was wondering:

When do you think the best time to upgrade is? Should I wait till december or do it now. I have my eye on the E6600, and the Intel Bad Axe board and then 2gb of DDR2-533 and a 7900GT.

Do you think the prices will change much or should I get a system now?

Daysleeper, i have'nt notice the prices dropping yet, they could.
Get DDR2-667 memory rather.

Run the Benchmarks on your current system for us as comparision.
Aquamark3, 3DMark05, 3DMark06 & Super PI
Thanx :D

dude i hae no doubt that intel is kicking amd's butt that wasnt the arguement here

price wont come down if anything they are going to go up with the rand weakening to the dollars everyday now

best time to buy would be now
xmas is coming doubt prices get cheaper during xmas :)

maybe wait till january
also dont buy a vga card yet i mean dx 10 will out ina matter of months haha

but its your choice really

Weeell, ..the rand has actually been hovering around 7 to the dollar for aaages, ..it just fluctuates violently around there sometimes, slowly getting better and then jumping up above, ..check out a line graph of the last year or 2..
but anyway, I think the only way prices would come down, would be if Intel dropped them, ..better still if AMD came up with something better ;), making Core2 dirt cheap, ..haha, but then everybody would want that, ...oh the circle of life! :)

all im saying is that the rand aint going to get better, if anything it will get worse :)

remember it was at 5.98 not so long ago
imagine how cheap x 2 would be with that?
