Core i5 versus Core i7

I5 is good for gaming and general computing. The I7 is better, but with the HT is more suited for serious computing, ala rendering video / sound etc. I got the P7P55D LE MB, supports both chips.

It's an old intel trick - originally used with the 486SX (failed ondie mathco) and celeron (failed ondie cache). But you can get a quad core for as little as 1k so needs dual and tri cores :p

Very true indeed.

Just keep in mind, there is more to buying something that simply paying for it and taking it. Buying stolen goods for one thing is bad, support companies with questionable business practices and short term product life cycles could be just as bad...

THere's nothing for Intel to figure out. However there is a need for Intel to explain the LGA1156 platform in a better way than it has been doing till now.

Simply put: LGA1156 allows more options than 1366. 1156 cn go into mobile devices and scale much better from the low end right up to the high end with the core i7 870 CPU.
1156 is cheaper and that means better market penetration (quicker and wider). It is not only cheaper in terms of cost to manufactuer (fewer pin outs, no Northbridge, better power states, although this is CPU dependant really)

Either way given the choice I would buy the Core i7 (1366) 930 or the Core i7 (1156) 860 CPU.
